Update 5/16/2026: They finally refunded the diagnostic fee, but only after significant pressure and a formal complaint with the BBB. They still have not acknowledged fault for the installation error. I have since started working with a different local Solar Installer who uses similar equipment and has been much more professional and transparent. FYI: This business is no longer under the name Carbon Recall - they are now operating as "Repower." Update 10/27/2025: I am posting this as a public warning: there are other companies and electricians you can find to do these kinds of installations, an

I'll preface my review with a couple of positives. Carbon Recall did provide some of the best initial communication that I received leading up to my decision to use them for my solar. The install guys were fast! And had a good attitude. This was beginning of August. However, from there stuff started to unravel. It took 8 weeks from install until the system was half activated. This cannot be blamed on the inspector or Northwesternenergy as both of them completed their assignments within 3 days of it being ready for them. Now we're in December, several months after the system was paid in full, s

Carbon Recall Kalispell has a well-earned reputation of incompetence among professional electricians and solar installers in the valley, because they are routinely being called to fix Carbon Recall messes. I learned this the hard and expensive way. I contracted with CR to install two large solar arrays. The contracts stipulated being “substantially complete” within 2 weeks. After 14½ months I fired them, ordered them off the property, withheld final payment and used that money to hire another company to troubleshoot and complete the installation. CR’s work is so shoddy, well below DIY, that I

Our experience overall was good. There were a few times during the process when communication could have been better. After the panels were installed in May, it took until late July before they were actually turned on. This was frustrating. There was miscommunication with the power company about when the power inspection was being done, and passing off our gate code. Then our servicer went on vacation without letting us know so it took several weeks to find out the schedule. Finally, when it was time to go over the system and learn the app, our servicer got sick (not his fault) and we had anot

I had my solar system installed late 2024 and it went fully operational in January of 2025. I have REC grid tied panels with a Tesla Powerwall 3 battery backup. It’s been in use over a year now and I haven’t had a single problem with the system and it has performed better than expected. The Tesla app makes it super easy too. Our install team was fantastic and very helpful throughout the process.

We worked with Zach and Joel to install a 21Kw system this past fall. Having received proposals from two other companies we ultimately selected Carbon recall based on equipment, system design, and warranty. The install commenced a few days after we paid our deposit and the whole system was installed in less than two days while snow was falling and was commissioned a few weeks later. We were pleasantly surprised by the timeline and Carbon Recalls ability to deliver. At one point there were 10+ workers on site! We love the enphase dashboard and have been also loving our new electric bill.

Topics Google derives from the review text, with how often each appears. A frequent topic is not a good one: “price” turns up in praise and in complaints alike.
Elsewhere
- It is also reviewed on the Better Business Bureau. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.
- It posts on YouTube, Instagram and Facebook. A page that stopped posting years ago tells you something a listing will not.

The ones without a link have no page here, either because Google does not categorise them as solar businesses or because we could not match the name to a listing with confidence.

Ordered by how much we can tell you about each, which is not an order of quality. We do not know which of these is better and would not say if we did.
What we don't know
- The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
- We found nothing on a website for this company that states a warranty, a licence or how long it has traded.
- We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
- We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
