Its one and two star share is 5 points above the typical installer in California. Across California, 544 of the 1,529 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 50 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

I never write reviews, but NorthStar Solar truly earned it. After soliciting multiple bids, Patrick stood out right away - he took the time to do a Zoom call to understand my property and my goals instead of just emailing a quote. Once I moved forward, Jason was assigned as my project manager and kept me informed every step of the way. The install crew was on-time, super efficient, and meticulous - clearly professionals who also understand roofing. They were careful about panel/battery placement and stud alignment, and at the end they even painted all the new conduits to match our house colors

I had a solar system installed by Northstar Solar this past winter, and I am thoroughly impressed with their service. I obtained several bids from different companies, Northstar Solar's bid stood out as very competitive and comprehensive. They installed REC solar panels and Tesla Powerwall 3 batteries at my home. While the sales quote was brief, the system design, and permit filing were all done meticulously. The entire installation process was seamless. From the initial consultation with Patrick in sales, a virtual meeting with the Company Owner Ryan, to the clear communications from Office M

Extremely pleased with my experience with Northstar Solar…. the most efficient company I have worked with.. They are very thorough, adhere to their timerable, very quick to respond to questions or concerns. I could not recommend them any more highly, I would give them a definite five star rating. If you’re in the market for solar, do yourself a favor call them.

What the company says about itself

Taken from its own website. We have not checked any of it, and a sentence on a website is not evidence.

  • Financing

“At NorthStar Solar, our flexible financing options make going solar simple, affordable,…”

Its website also mentions warranty, free estimate and licensed, but not in a sentence we can quote cleanly.

Elsewhere

  • It posts on YouTube, TikTok and Instagram. A page that stopped posting years ago tells you something a listing will not.

Who Google shows alongside them

Google’s own “people also viewed” set, in Google’s order. It is Google’s comparison, not ours.

The ones without a link have no page here, either because Google does not categorise them as solar businesses or because we could not match the name to a listing with confidence.

Ordered by how much we can tell you about each, which is not an order of quality. We do not know which of these is better and would not say if we did.

What we don't know

  • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
  • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
  • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
