Its one and two star share is 1 point below the typical installer in California. Across California, 788 of the 1,529 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 10 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

Three years ago, I hired Shade Power to build a solar pergola in my back yard. I'm leaving a review now because I wanted to provide enough time to see how the system performed and how Shade Power lived up to their promises. After three years, I can confidently say that my decision to go with Shade Power was a fantastic decision. Everything has solidly performed as expected and Shade Power has even come back out to my home a few times to make small adjustments and improvements to keep everything running and looking good at no cost. They absolutely stand behind their work. Aside from everything

We absolutely loved the work that shade power did for our solar pergola. They are incredibly professional and communicative and not only that, they use the highest quality materials. They promptly processed all permits for us with the city, plus always informed me for any documentation that needed to get signed for PGE. We love love Chadwick and Jen and would recommend them 10000% to anyone who is looking to upgrade to solar on their pergola.

I've talked and worked with several solar companies and Shade Power is by far the best. Early in the process, it's so nice to able to talk through the project with the lead installer (the person actually doing the work). Once the process was started, Chadwick and Jen did high quality work, on schedule. They communicated progress and were available to answer questions. I would definitely use them again!

Topics Google derives from the review text, with how often each appears. A frequent topic is not a good one: “price” turns up in praise and in complaints alike.

Elsewhere

  • It is also reviewed on Yelp. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.

Who Google shows alongside them

Google’s own “people also viewed” set, in Google’s order. It is Google’s comparison, not ours.

The ones without a link have no page here, either because Google does not categorise them as solar businesses or because we could not match the name to a listing with confidence.

Ordered by how much we can tell you about each, which is not an order of quality. We do not know which of these is better and would not say if we did.

What we don't know

  • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
  • We found nothing on a website for this company that states a warranty, a licence or how long it has traded.
  • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
  • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
