Its one and two star share is 13 points above the typical installer in Chico. Across California, 263 of the 1,529 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 21 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

Poor customer service. I cannot get a call back from Solar Works. We have a large solar install with them and they are not servicing our account. Poor customer service is an understatement.

4 times for inspection and they failed. Bill told me its not their fault "mistakes happen". 1 time is a mistake. 4 times is a problem and they will not admit they have a problem. Do not use them

10/22/18 update: found out my generator was installed with NO permits and by unlicensed electricians. Left 3 messages for Bill, the owner and he has NOT called me back. 10/17/18 Had my solar installed almost a year ago and no problems. My generator was installed in December 2018, however, has NEVER worked properly. Jody was always nice and kind on the phone and always sent someone to fix it and even asked me very nicely to please give them another chance before I try to return the unit. Since the generator has never turned on or off on it's own and the battery always had to be jumped I've been

This team was quick, clean and took the time to explain what they were doing and how long it would rake

Chico Solar Works was a great choice for us! We got three bids from local companies and they were the winner due to their price and sister roofing company. From Bill to Cal to Teddy to Michele, all the folks we interacted with were responsive and friendly. The install team was quick, professional, and seemed to have a good time together. We're really happy with our system so far and would recommend Chico Solar Works to others! They are less sales focused than other companies out there and more focused on the people and the work. Thank you!

I got Solar up and running. When they came out to survey the found my roof was missing some shingles and they fixed it. it looks professional and is already saving money. I recommend Chico Solar Works.

What the company says about itself

Taken from its own website. We have not checked any of it, and a sentence on a website is not evidence.

  • Financing

“GoGreen Financing Discover flexible financing options for solar installations, battery…”

Its website also mentions free estimate, but not in a sentence we can quote cleanly.

Elsewhere

  • It is also reviewed on ConsumerAffairs and Yelp. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.
  • It posts on Instagram and Facebook. A page that stopped posting years ago tells you something a listing will not.

Ordered by how much we can tell you about each, which is not an order of quality. We do not know which of these is better and would not say if we did.

What we don't know

  • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
  • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
  • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
