Its one and two star share is 8 points above the typical installer in Colorado. Across Colorado, 58 of the 216 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 265 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

I had them upgrade my Solaredge inverter and add two more solar panels and now they don't want to deal with the inverter and Solaredge says to deal with your installer.now they want to charge me 200 for a service call to see what the problem is with the inverter and they never did install a new cellular card like they were supposed to

Set up was great, but service has gone downhill couldn’t get a call back, made appointment finally then they couldn’t make it and canceled then tried to call again and they went to wrong address then were late to second appointment and we had to cancel again.

Giving one star is much more generous than I want to be. Stay away from Steel City Solar! They are unethical, they do not respond to messages, and they bold face lie. Our system hasn't been working for months and they refuse to answer our phone calls, texts and emails. We are paying for a system that doesn't work and we are also paying high electric bills to Black Hills. When contacted, they claimed we are refusing to work with them. How does this even make sense? We have been trying for months to get them to fix our system because paying both the loan and Black Hills is expensive and definite

Steel City Solar rescheduled at the last minute SEVERAL TIMES!!!. They also did this by email instead of a call. So, this interrupted my work schedule several times and was unaware that the crew would not show up since I do not check email all the time. A call would have been better, or committing to the schedule that was planned would be appropriate. Now, the crew that did the work was good.

Dillon was timely and focused. He did an amazing job of relocating my inverter due to a change in where the conduit entered. He completed his work and left no mess.

They said what they would do, and they did what they said.

Just got my project finished. Couldn’t be more pleased with the ENTIRE process from the initial consultation, to the sales and design portion, financing, Permitting, site preparation, installation and inspection. EVERY facet of this project had the same level of professionalism and standards of excellence, no matter who was doing the job! Mike in sales was knowledgeable and listened to what we wanted and worked towards that end. Educated us along the way. Miguel was my project manager, an electrician by trade, but more importantly truly MANAGED my project with a few curve balls thrown his way.

What the company says about itself

Taken from its own website. We have not checked any of it, and a sentence on a website is not evidence.

  • Free estimate

“Easy Your solar journey starts with a free quote and ends with access to renewable…”

Its website also mentions warranty, but not in a sentence we can quote cleanly.

Elsewhere

  • It is also reviewed on Yelp and the Better Business Bureau. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.
  • It posts on LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook. A page that stopped posting years ago tells you something a listing will not.

Ordered by how much we can tell you about each, which is not an order of quality. We do not know which of these is better and would not say if we did.

What we don't know

  • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
  • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
  • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
