Its one and two star share is 40 points above the typical installer in the Wheat Ridge area. Across Colorado, 11 of the 216 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 25 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

Each mark is one company we hold in the Wheat Ridge area whose Google breakdown has been read, placed by its share of one and two star reviews. Stellar Energy Contractors is the red one. The amber line is the middle of that set, which includes suppliers and maintenance businesses as well as installers.

Stellar Energy installed a faulty solar system. They are no longer in business to come out and repair it. Tom Wilkinson was their CEO. I suppose he starts a new company that installs bad/faulty products, then goes out of business and starts a new business. I'm reporting him and Stellar to the BBB and to the state electric board.

Solar panels installed. Monitoring doesn't work. On new installation they took 3 months to activate monitoring after following up for atleast 10 time. Then after reinstall following roof replacement, the monitoring is still down after 14 months. No one answers phone now. Emails went unanswered.

I used Tom and his team at Stellar to install a hot water heater, a whole house surge protector as well as solar (PV) on my roof to cover my whole house energy usage. Not only did we get expert advice we received a first class install, excellent communication all done by friendly contractors. Thanks Stellar team!

Topics Google derives from the review text, with how often each appears. A frequent topic is not a good one: “price” turns up in praise and in complaints alike.

Elsewhere

  • It is also reviewed on the Better Business Bureau and Yelp. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.

The ones without a link have no page here, either because Google does not categorise them as solar businesses or because we could not match the name to a listing with confidence.

Ordered by how much we can tell you about each, which is not an order of quality. We do not know which of these is better and would not say if we did.

What we don't know

  • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
  • We found nothing on a website for this company that states a warranty, a licence or how long it has traded.
  • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
  • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
