Its one and two star share is 3 points below the typical installer in the Des Moines area. Across Iowa, 27 of the 46 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 11 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

Each mark is one company we hold in the Des Moines area whose Google breakdown has been read, placed by its share of one and two star reviews. The Solar Guys is the red one. The amber line is the middle of that set, which includes suppliers and maintenance businesses as well as installers.

It is rare that I write a review to recommend a product or company. In this case I feel compelled to do so. My wife and I decided to add a solar power system to our farm. We decided on a ground mounted, battery back up, grid tied system. We wanted a system that would provide energy to our farm when there were power outages. We did our homework, and got several bids for our solar project. One bid stood out. Mike Reysack from The Solar Guys brought his A game. He was on time, knew his products, and was knowledgeable about all of the various federal incentive programs for alternative energy. His

I highly recommend The Solar Guys of Iowa. The technicians that worked on my system, Daniel and Soren, were pleasant and professional. These guys came in to fix and complete an installation partially done by another company that shuttered before completing my install. They went through the entire panel install to make sure connections and wire management were correct. They found issues with the original panel install, such as improper wiring, improper grounding, loose wires hanging underneath, and even some panels that were not secured well enough. All the issues were fixed! They went above an

We had an outstanding experience with The Solar Guys. Our energy production is offsetting our electrical bill, that was our goal. I received several quotes from several companies before we settled on The Solar Guys. What stood out for me was their time in the industry, knowledge and experience through the initial consultation with Mike through the end of the install with Cassie to make sure everything was working, app was setup and showing data. Given our install was going on a detached garage; we could build panels all the way out to the edge maxing out our install, vs a primary dwelling wher

What the company says about itself

Taken from its own website. We have not checked any of it, and a sentence on a website is not evidence.

  • Warranty

“right the first time around. Quality Guaranteed Quality is our top priority. We only…”

  • Family owned

“us to do what we do best. As a local family-owned and operated business, we take pride…”

  • Years in business

“in the solar industry spanning over 12 years has created a successful business.”

Its website also mentions free estimate and established, but not in a sentence we can quote cleanly.

Who Google shows alongside them

Google’s own “people also viewed” set, in Google’s order. It is Google’s comparison, not ours.

The ones without a link have no page here, either because Google does not categorise them as solar businesses or because we could not match the name to a listing with confidence.

What we don't know

  • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
  • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
  • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
