Its one and two star share is level with the typical installer in the Charlottesville area. Across Virginia, 56 of the 118 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 81 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

On the Virginia ranking

No. 5 of the 41 rankable records in Virginia →

Ordered by the share of one and two star reviews, weighted by how many reviews stand behind it. It ranks review records, not workmanship.

Every company we hold in the Charlottesville area, on one axis

0% rated 1–2★50%

Each mark is one company we hold in the Charlottesville area whose Google breakdown has been read, placed by its share of one and two star reviews. Tiger Solar is the red one. The amber line is the middle of that set, which includes suppliers and maintenance businesses as well as installers.

We are so happy that we chose Tiger Solar. They are the top of the line. Everybody on their team gave us excellent service. They were so patient with us with all our questions. They have spoiled us. After having them, we will never be satisfied with other contractors. We wish we could bottle their great service.

Worked with the Tiger team last year to get solar panels on my home. Out of all the quotes they were the best. Competitors had nothing but positive things to say as well about Tiger’s service. Tiger was able to meet the tax credit deadline too. My only request would be that they add service to remove snow/ice from the panels in the future. I would gladly pay a fee for that as my panels have now been covered for 5 days.

Overall a great experience, we had a small installation issue, but they fixed it and made it right very quickly. Great price per KW of new solar power.

Topics Google derives from the review text, with how often each appears. A frequent topic is not a good one: “price” turns up in praise and in complaints alike.

What the company says about itself

Taken from its own website. We have not checked any of it, and a sentence on a website is not evidence.

  • Warranty

“repair costs are based on applicable warranty coverage, the price of replacement…”

Its website also mentions free estimate and established, but not in a sentence we can quote cleanly.

Elsewhere

  • It is also reviewed on the Better Business Bureau and Yelp. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.
  • It posts on YouTube, LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram. A page that stopped posting years ago tells you something a listing will not.

Ordered by how much we can tell you about each, which is not an order of quality. We do not know which of these is better and would not say if we did.

What we don't know

  • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
  • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
  • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
