Its one and two star share is 2 points below the typical installer in Massachusetts. Across Massachusetts, 107 of the 198 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 3 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

What reviewers said

Recent service calls from Jeff and Mike confirm why BD Electric has such high ratings. They were competent, professional, and respectful throughout the process - great experiences. Kudo’s to Evan and his team at BD - I recommend them without reservation!

BD Electrical installed our solar panels at the end of last year. They were patient with us while we took our time to work out the best system for our needs and then walked us through every step of the installation process. I highly recommend them.

BD Electrical & Solar could not have better! Evan was great throughout the entire process and his crew were too. They worked hard to get my installation, as well as many other installations done quickly. Very impressed with the entire effort. All were very knowledgeable and professional. Thanks!

What reviewers keep mentioning

Topics Google derives from the review text, with how often each appears. A frequent topic is not a good one: “price” turns up in praise and in complaints alike.

What the company says about itself

Taken from its own website. We have not checked any of it, and a sentence on a website is not evidence.

  • Warranty

“25-year tile, power & weatherization warranty Authorized Installer ☀ Enphase…”

  • 24/7 availability

“Are electricians in Boston available 24/7? Electricians in Boston are available…”

  • Bonded

“in Dorchester MA insured and bonded? Electrical contractors in…”

  • Insured

“electricians in Boston licensed and insured? Electricians in Boston are required…”

  • Licensed

“and supported by our own team of licensed electricians and solar professionals.”

Its website also mentions free estimate, but not in a sentence we can quote cleanly.

Elsewhere

  • Google also lists this company under electrical.
  • It is also reviewed on the Better Business Bureau. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.
  • It posts on LinkedIn and Facebook. A page that stopped posting years ago tells you something a listing will not.

Ordered by how much we can tell you about each, which is not an order of quality. We do not know which of these is better and would not say if we did.

What we don't know

  • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
  • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
  • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
