Its one and two star share is 20 points above the typical installer in the Folsom area. Across California, 232 of the 1,529 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 9 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

Each mark is one company we hold in the Folsom area whose Google breakdown has been read, placed by its share of one and two star reviews. Bear Solar Inc. is the red one. The amber line is the middle of that set, which includes suppliers and maintenance businesses as well as installers.

Unprofessional from the start up. On install somewhere ruined our pool pump, offered to repair but took months to do so. System doesn’t work, I have made multiple attempts to call the sales and customer service team and left voicemails, no one returns them. Horrible horrible horrible service. Having $1000 a month electric bills and not even running my AC during peak hours. Yet the app shows I’m getting more power than I’m using so something isn’t working. All I want is a call back and they can’t even do that. Go elsewhere.

Bear Solar was recommended by a friend. I am glad I went with my friend's recommendation! My experience with Bear Solar has been outstanding from start to completion of the project. Jorge was outstanding in his communication throughout the project and Ruben and his highly professional team of installers did a superb job. The team stood by the projected timelines and finished the installation of the panels and the power battery, on time. Getting permit for installation, and subsequent follow up with the city for the final inspection and approval post-installation as well as all the communicatio

We now have a battery backup system (2 Powerwalls) thanks to Bear Solar's diligence with the installation, approval and in dealing with the power company in order to obtain our rebate. We are very happy with Azim and his crew!

What the company says about itself

Taken from its own website. We have not checked any of it, and a sentence on a website is not evidence.

  • Warranty

“utility bill, though savings aren’t guaranteed and depend on your usage, rate plan,…”

  • Years in business

    “— a renewable-energy engineer with over 25 years in the industry and 25-plus megawatts…”

  • Licensed

“$0-down options — loan, lease, or PPA Licensed, local California installer — CSLB…”

  • Licence number

    “local California installer — CSLB Lic. No. 1028222 (C-46) (888) 590-2327 or…”

Its website also mentions free estimate and established, but not in a sentence we can quote cleanly.

Elsewhere

  • It is also reviewed on the Better Business Bureau. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.
  • It posts on LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram and Facebook. A page that stopped posting years ago tells you something a listing will not.

What we don't know

  • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
  • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
  • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
