Its one and two star share is 2 points above the typical installer in Roseville. Across California, 719 of the 1,529 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 102 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

Every company we hold in Roseville, on one axis

0% rated 1–2★15%

Each mark is one company we hold in Roseville whose Google breakdown has been read, placed by its share of one and two star reviews. California Renewable Energy is the red one. The amber line is the middle of that set, which includes suppliers and maintenance businesses as well as installers.

I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone. They installed solar on our roof 2 years ago with promises of doing away with our PG&E bill. After comparing with other companies, we decided to go with California Renewable Energy, which is something we have regretted ever since. They replaced our HVAC system for much more than we would have paid elsewhere and did not include the upgrades promised like the larger ducting and a bigger unit. The last 2 years we have had to have a technician come out for repairs on this brand new unit. We were told we would have batteries for the panels, which did not

Horrible scam - do not buy into it. Does not provide any benefits promised from the sales proposal. Again, DO NOT BUY.

Calif. Renewable Energy did a wonderful job. Easy to work with, punctual, and explained everything clearly. I highly recommend them!

We’ve had a great experience with this solar company and are very happy with our purchase! The process was fast and efficient, and Barry was great to work with. We did have a hiccup along the way, but Alicia, the owner, reached out immediately and made a genuine effort to rectify everything, which we really appreciated. Our solar is working great, and we’re already seeing the savings on our electric bill. Overall, we’re very happy we made the switch and would definitely recommend them!

Bought a new home in Lincoln CA and wanted to add some solar panels. Angelica and her team did an amazing job with the installation. They were very professional and knowledgeable. We will definitely be recommending them to our neighbors!

What the company says about itself

Taken from its own website. We have not checked any of it, and a sentence on a website is not evidence.

  • Financing

“Government backed and affordable financing options Quality Support In house quality,…”

  • Warranty

“was almost 30 years old with no warranty. I now have beautiful system…”

Its website also mentions epa certified, better business bureau, bonded, insured, licensed and licence number, but not in a sentence we can quote cleanly.

Elsewhere

  • It is also reviewed on the Better Business Bureau and Yelp. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.
  • It posts on Instagram and Facebook. A page that stopped posting years ago tells you something a listing will not.

Who Google shows alongside them

Google’s own “people also viewed” set, in Google’s order. It is Google’s comparison, not ours.

The ones without a link have no page here, either because Google does not categorise them as solar businesses or because we could not match the name to a listing with confidence.

Ordered by how much we can tell you about each, which is not an order of quality. We do not know which of these is better and would not say if we did.

What we don't know

  • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
  • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
  • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
