Its one and two star share is 8 points above the typical installer in the Palm Desert area. Across California, 476 of the 1,529 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 25 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

Each mark is one company we hold in the Palm Desert area whose Google breakdown has been read, placed by its share of one and two star reviews. Hot Purple Energy is the red one. The amber line is the middle of that set, which includes suppliers and maintenance businesses as well as installers.

Called for help. Some advise. Something, someone who cares… nothing.

Very disappointed that we spent over $40k out of pocket for our system one year ago. Exactly one year in, our inverter went kaput. HPE claimed they didn't have any in stock and that the inverter was on back-order which would force us to go about a month with no solar from July and into August in Palm Desert (average temperature has hovered well over 100 degrees daily). The inverter was finally replaced yesterday. The product was warranted by the company, but HPE finds no obligation to provide us a credit (besides one free washing of the panels) for the electricity we were forced to buy from th

Really disapponted with Hot Purple Energy (HPE). We got quotes from Renova and Hot Purple Energy. They were about the same price, but we liked the saleperson and the idea of going with a smaller company, so we chose to have HPE do the …

Hot Purple Energy did a phenomenal job on our solar panels! They made the process very easy- from start to finish with securing our HOA approval, getting permits, arranging for roof inspections and repairs, and keeping us informed on a daily basis during the project with calls, emails and photos of the work. Their entire team is amazing to work with! We could not be more pleased with the quality and success of the project!!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I've been a happy HPE customer for 7+ years. My solar system went down and they responded quickly to get it back running within the hour. The tech (Ferman?) was helpful and provided me with useful tips. He shared they do system monitoring …

Van with Hot Purple Energy (HPE) just did a great job cleaning our solar panels. He also reported on the current status of the panels, connections, and roof. We’re so happy we had our solar panels installed by HPE 4 years ago. They’ve been excellent from installation, system monitoring, and cleaning panels. They’re professional and detailed.

Topics Google derives from the review text, with how often each appears. A frequent topic is not a good one: “price” turns up in praise and in complaints alike.

Elsewhere

  • It is also reviewed on Yelp. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.

Who Google shows alongside them

Google’s own “people also viewed” set, in Google’s order. It is Google’s comparison, not ours.

The ones without a link have no page here, either because Google does not categorise them as solar businesses or because we could not match the name to a listing with confidence.

What we don't know

  • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
  • We found nothing on a website for this company that states a warranty, a licence or how long it has traded.
  • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
  • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
