Its one and two star share is level with the typical installer in Hemet. Across California, 788 of the 1,529 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 12 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

Each mark is one company we hold in Hemet whose Google breakdown has been read, placed by its share of one and two star reviews. Lightyear Solar is the red one. The amber line is the middle of that set, which includes suppliers and maintenance businesses as well as installers.

Lightyear Solar installed solar panels, a battery, a new main electrical panel, and a new sub panel for my garage. My project was not easy as it involved an historic house and a detached garage. I am very pleased with the results. My electric bill this month was $1.78 even though I run my HVAC system all day long. Lightyear Solar was very responsive and the work was well done. I use the app they provided to monitor production and consumption. Overall, I am very satisfied.

We worked with John Kyle from Lightyear Solar. He’s very knowledgeable, patient and he took the time to answer any questions that I had during the process. He was able to rework the initial plan (from Palmetto) and maximized the # panels that can be installed on our roof (which is what we wanted!). He’s the best!

Everyone kept telling me that getting solar was a nightmare.... NOT HERE! The installation process went smooth. The installers came out and fully installed my 17 panels, 10kw battery in one day. John Kyle was my point person and he was super knowledgeable about how the complete system works and made like so easy doing business with him. SUPER FRIENDLY! I am know looking for a summer home and called John for assistance with system recommendations. Would not trust anyone else at this point to make sure I live a life without having to import electricity from the PGE grid. No bill only mandatory c

Topics Google derives from the review text, with how often each appears. A frequent topic is not a good one: “price” turns up in praise and in complaints alike.

What the company says about itself

Taken from its own website. We have not checked any of it, and a sentence on a website is not evidence.

  • Free estimate

“Assessment It all starts with a free consultation. We evaluate your energy needs, roof…”

  • Years in business

“your system runs efficiently for over 25 years. 04. What’s Included in a Lightyear…”

Its website also mentions financing and warranty, but not in a sentence we can quote cleanly.

Elsewhere

  • It is also reviewed on the Better Business Bureau and Yelp. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.

Ordered by how much we can tell you about each, which is not an order of quality. We do not know which of these is better and would not say if we did.

What we don't know

  • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
  • Google publishes no street address for this company, so we cannot say which town it is based in. Hemet is the area its listing was returned for, not an address we hold.
  • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
  • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
