Its one and two star share is 4 points below the typical installer in New Mexico. Across New Mexico, 42 of the 65 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 122 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

Over two years later and they still haven’t done what they said they would do. The systems (one residential and one business) are installed and functional but I have still not been given the info on how to monitor them or what to do. Lots of lip service but very poor follow through. I tried numerous times to discuss an expansion but finally gave up. Seems they weren’t interested. They’ve dropped the ball more times than a pee wee league T ball team.

We first connected with Positive Energy Solar when we wanted to install solar panels on our roof, which is done and working beautifully. The folks at Positive Energy Solar are such a great team, all very energetic and efficient, clearly both happy in their work and proficient at it. Just a week ago we connected with them again to discuss solar storage, and we now have a clear, thorough plan to review. This is an skilled, trustworthy company, and I recommend them enthusiastically.

Thirteen years ago, when I suddenly became responsible for everything around my sprawling old adobe house and casita in rural Northern New Mexico, converting to solar power seemed like a good place to start. After looking at several solar providers, I settled on Positive Energy Solar in Santa Fe because of their quick response and professional assessment of my needs and desires. The ten solar panels installed in 2015 feed enough power into the electrical grid to offset all but the base charges on my Jemez Electric Coop bill for about eight months each year. Had to find a new contractor to help after NM Solar Group went under and my inverter needed to be replaced. PE was responsive and got my inverter installed with little effort on my end.

What the company says about itself

Taken from its own website. We have not checked any of it, and a sentence on a website is not evidence.

  • Financing

“panels and equipment, warranties , financing options , and navigate available solar…”

  • Years in business

“by our peers and customers for over 25 years. But don’t just take our word…”

  • Licensed

“and proven stability Certified, licensed in-house installers Strong customer…”

Its website also mentions warranty, free estimate and established, but not in a sentence we can quote cleanly.

Elsewhere

  • It is also reviewed on Yelp. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.
  • It posts on Instagram, YouTube and Facebook. A page that stopped posting years ago tells you something a listing will not.

Who Google shows alongside them

Google’s own “people also viewed” set, in Google’s order. It is Google’s comparison, not ours.

The ones without a link have no page here, either because Google does not categorise them as solar businesses or because we could not match the name to a listing with confidence.

Ordered by how much we can tell you about each, which is not an order of quality. We do not know which of these is better and would not say if we did.

What we don't know

  • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
  • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
  • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
