Its one and two star share is 3 points above the typical installer in the Providence area. Across Rhode Island, 15 of the 33 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 592 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

Each mark is one company we hold in the Providence area whose Google breakdown has been read, placed by its share of one and two star reviews. Rooftop Power is the red one. The amber line is the middle of that set, which includes suppliers and maintenance businesses as well as installers.

Third update: The saga continues . . . On the positive side, our solar is working again. Rooftop Power installed a working inverter while we were out of town. When we tried to connect to the gateway, however, the same issues persisted. Our app shoed it as disconnected. I troubleshot everything and deleted and re-downloaded my app. I also tried to register the inverter they installed. Not how I have not called it "new." This is because according to the app, I could not register the inverter because it was registered to someone else. I called Tesla to ask about it and they could give me no perso

Warning to fellow Cranston homeowners: This company is sales-heavy and tech-light. After a very basic pitch and some mansplaining, the rep essentially told me a proper assessment would be a waste if I wasn't already sold. He completely ignored my infrastructure concerns (roof age/electrical upgrade) and pushed a lease he couldn't explain rather than walking me through their REF grant process which I requested up front. A house's ‘bones’ matter—don't let these guys near yours if you want quality work. I’m only sorry that some people may have been “got” by this.

Definitely recommended solar panel company / roofing company 👍🏼 A couple years later, once RI Energy took over, it’s not even worth it getting solar panels put on. Getting $8 back from RI Energy per month is ridiculous. Inflation is real folks.

10/10 experience, there is not one thing that could have been improved. I didn’t have to lift a finger. Justin, our sales rep, talked to us like real people and made extra effort to make sure we got our system up and running in time to collect energy for the summer. He made ALL the difference for us! Other companies were difficult and would not provide all the information we were looking for. Ally, our project manager, kept us informed at every single step and was truly a pleasure to work with. No surprises and project went exactly as described.

What the company says about itself

Taken from its own website. We have not checked any of it, and a sentence on a website is not evidence.

  • Insured

“Connecticut We are fully licensed and insured in all three states we serve, and we…”

Its website also mentions financing, warranty, free estimate, family owned, established, better business bureau and licensed, but not in a sentence we can quote cleanly.

Elsewhere

  • Google also lists this company under electrical and roofing. A company that does both roofing and solar can handle the roof work a panel install often needs.
  • It is also reviewed on Yelp and the Better Business Bureau. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.
  • It posts on YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook. A page that stopped posting years ago tells you something a listing will not.

What we don't know

  • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
  • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
  • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.

Something wrong here? Tell us and a person will read it.
