Its one and two star share is 2 points below the typical installer in Lansing. Across Michigan, 31 of the 84 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 48 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

Every company we hold in Lansing, on one axis

0% rated 1–2★25%

Each mark is one company we hold in Lansing whose Google breakdown has been read, placed by its share of one and two star reviews. Absolute Solar is the red one. The amber line is the middle of that set, which includes suppliers and maintenance businesses as well as installers.

Worst company I’ve ever dealt with. Constant delays, zero communication, failed inspections due to their mistakes, and blatant lies. No one takes responsibility, no one knows what they’re doing, and their “fix” for months of screw-ups was a pathetic 1.1% discount. I wouldn’t trust them to change a lightbulb, let alone install solar.

I do not recommend this company under any circumstances. My experience with them was terrible and I could write a saga, but here are 3 brief points: 1. Communication was incredibly poor. I was told I’d have a March install date, which got moved to April, then May, then later in May. I understand that delays happen, but each time I only found out about the delay because I reached out them the night before to ask for literally any info about the install, and received a last minute reply of “oh it’s not tomorrow morning, it’s actually next month.” If I hadn’t reached out, they would have no-showe

Don't know how they are as a company but I watched one of their drivers (in a company silver truck) almost cause 2 accidents today on a city one-way and then continue to drive recklessly on the highway. Probably not the smartest thing to do with the company logo right there for everyone to see.

The team at Absolute Solar were great to work with. I would highly recommend them. The quality of their work and level of communication was excellent. Those of us at First Congragational Church of Kalamazoo are happy with our system.

We started the process to finally add solar to our house (a lifelong goal of mine). However... we needed to relocate for work and sell our house after signing the purchase agreement. Pete and the upper management team handled the news and processed the cancelation to my complete satisfaction. 100% would recommend them to anyone as they proved they are a decent and honest company. I wish we could have gone through with the whole process, but life doesn't always work out as we plan.

We had a great experience with the Absolute Solar team. From initial estimates all the way through installation and commissioning, their team was responsive and thoughtful.

What the company says about itself

Taken from its own website. We have not checked any of it, and a sentence on a website is not evidence.

  • Financing

“with our flexible solar project financing options, designed to fit your budget and…”

Elsewhere

  • It is also reviewed on ConsumerAffairs. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.
  • It posts on LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook. A page that stopped posting years ago tells you something a listing will not.

What we don't know

  • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
  • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
  • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
