Its one and two star share is 6 points below the typical installer in the Boulder area. Across Colorado, 122 of the 216 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 69 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

Ordered by the share of one and two star reviews, weighted by how many reviews stand behind it. It ranks review records, not workmanship.

Every company we hold in the Boulder area, on one axis

0% rated 1–2★20%

Each mark is one company we hold in the Boulder area whose Google breakdown has been read, placed by its share of one and two star reviews. ARE Solar is the red one. The amber line is the middle of that set, which includes suppliers and maintenance businesses as well as installers.

What reviewers said

ARE Solar upgraded my solar array to install improved micro-inverters and add battery backup. The project was complicated by finding out we had to replace the roof from the rotten decking up. ARE worked with the roofer to coordinate schedules and get the project completed with minimal delays. When the installation was finished, the system failed its test. The equipment manufacturer, Enphase, sent an engineer to diagnose the problem which turned out to be a firmware issue. Enphase created a patch and downloaded it to my system within 12 hours and my system has been running perfectly ever since.

ARE Solar and service rep AJ were excellent. They identified our problem and worked on a solution until it was as completely resolved.

We got our solar panels through ARE Solar last Spring. They seemed very knowledgeable and their pricing was very competitive. After we chose them for the job, they did a great job and were prompt and efficient in getting everything installed quickly once all of the prerequisite approvals were done. They also did a thorough follow up. The panels have worked great since. No complaints whatsoever! I would gladly recommend them for anyone thinking about doing a solar installation.

What the company says about itself

Taken from its own website. We have not checked any of it, and a sentence on a website is not evidence.

  • Established

“The system has been up and running since 2021 and we are benefitting daily. Our…”

Its website also mentions free estimate, but not in a sentence we can quote cleanly.

Elsewhere

  • It is also reviewed on GuildQuality and Yelp. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.
  • It posts on X, Instagram and Facebook. A page that stopped posting years ago tells you something a listing will not.

Who Google shows alongside them

Google’s own “people also viewed” set, in Google’s order. It is Google’s comparison, not ours.

The ones without a link have no page here, either because Google does not categorise them as solar businesses or because we could not match the name to a listing with confidence.

Ordered by how much we can tell you about each, which is not an order of quality. We do not know which of these is better and would not say if we did.

What we don't know

  • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
  • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
  • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
