Extremely dissatisfied with this company. They threaten my wife and I to pay an invoice when they didn't perform the work described. It took them 2 months to finally show up and were supposed to give us a quote to repair an arc fault in our solar. When Matt finally did show up after canceling multiple times, he said they were too busy with new installs and they couldn't do the work. It wasn't until a couple months later they sent me an invoice for services which were never provided such as diagnosing an arc fault and resetting the inverter. I tried to dispute this with them as I felt it was se

UPDATE 5: 10/15/2002 On October 4 my SGIP was returned for clarification and missing items. On October 5 Matt Riege emailed me to say they were working on the updates. I had not heard from Coastal Solar since that email so I requested status on October 11 with no response. On October 13 I again requested status with no response. On October 14 I again requested status with no response. To say that I'm very frustrated with Coastal Solar would be an understatement. UPDATE 4: 09/23/2022 I received confirmation this morning that my SGIP application was received by SCE. The app still needs to pass S

My husband and I have been thinking about adding solar to our house for years. We wanted to choose a local company so that we could have a local contact for problems, questions, etc... Plus, we want to support our local economy. We got 1 quote from Kota and wanted a quote from Coastal Solar . I reached out to Coastal Solar via telephone and e-mail. Marty was very nice, however, the salesman at first did not call us back. I finally called Marty again and then the salesman finally called us. He promised to get back to us within a week with a quote but we never heard from him again. He knew we ha

I used Coastal Solar to install my Powerwall 3 after finding them on Tesla's list of certified installers. I had actually gone through Tesla's entire process to have them install it, but their online reps couldn't answer many of my questions. After hearing it could also be difficult to get Tesla out for service if something went wrong, I called Coastal Solar because they are a local company. Matt came out the very next day, answered every question I had, and made me feel much more confident about the decision. An added bonus is that if my system ever needs service, Coastal Solar is my point of

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Dream to Work With! After my original solar installer went AWOL, I turned to Coastal Solar to fix my inverter — and I couldn't be happier that I did. Sterling and Desmond were absolutely a dream to work with from start to finish. The inverter manufacturer made the process anything but easy, and we ran into multiple challenges along the way. Sterling and Desmond handled every single one with professionalism and calm — never once making me feel like it was too much to deal with. What really stood out was how considerate they were throughout the entire process. They worked with me through

Coastal Solar just completed installation of solar panels and battery at our home. They are a small, local Ventura, family owned business with a friendly helpful crew. We wanted to install solar on the roof of our pergola, Matt, said no problem. We then changed our plans and Matt said no problem. I noticed on Coastal’s Facebook page that they will install panels in locations other solar companies won’t consider. Dealing with them felt like dealing with friends and neighbors. Kevin, the lead electrician, was very meticulous and communicated with us constantly about choices of placement of equip

What the company says about itself
Taken from its own website. We have not checked any of it, and a sentence on a website is not evidence.
Licensed
“decades of experience. Qualified and Licensed You get a professional team of highly…”
Its website also mentions family owned and established, but not in a sentence we can quote cleanly.
Elsewhere
- It is also reviewed on Yelp. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.
- It posts on Facebook. A page that stopped posting years ago tells you something a listing will not.

Ordered by how much we can tell you about each, which is not an order of quality. We do not know which of these is better and would not say if we did.
What we don't know
- The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
- We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
- We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
