Convert Solar

Each mark is one company we hold in Virginia Beach whose Google breakdown has been read, placed by its share of one and two star reviews. Convert Solar is the red one. The amber line is the middle of that set, which includes suppliers and maintenance businesses as well as installers.

Panels themselves are great, and I think the price was okay - where they lost the stars were how it wasn't the best communication / clarity in the 'design' phase - while I ended up with the right number of panels on my roof it was not in the orientation we discussed over email. But the main driver was a persistent error code my system had - I probably had to call and text 3 times a week for six weeks to finally get the support I was looking for to resolve the issue. They were certainly quick to not delay in billing me, but the support really was frustrating.

My system's monitoring has been down for month's now. I thought they would contact me by now, but they have not so they clearly DO NOT monitor your system. This is unacceptable.

Bottom line up front: when I had parts that needed to be replaced for the panels to work, and they couldn’t figure out why it wasn’t working once some were replaced, they blamed in on squirrel damage so that it would not be covered. Scared us with saying damage was so bad that thousands would need to be spent to fix. No squirrel damn was found by another company who did fix the issue by replacing 1 more part. Purchased house with solar, and Convert Solar was the installer. Realized 9 of our 18 panels were not producing. Called them 3 times throughout a month, and each time was told someone wou

Sub-panel was installed on the exterior instead of the interior without any discussion or approval. Poor explanation of Permission To Operate process.

Convert Solar installed our solar panels and so far we are very pleased. We seem to be generating lots of kilowatts, and our first power bill was $9.95! Our rep, Donn. was honest and appeared to have our best interests in mind.

Working with Convert Solar was a great experience. All of their staff from sales to installation was very professional and knowledgeable. They were always on time and willing to help with any questions we had.

Topics Google derives from the review text, with how often each appears. A frequent topic is not a good one: “price” turns up in praise and in complaints alike.

Taken from its own website. We have not checked any of it, and a sentence on a website is not evidence.

• Financing

“$0 Out-Of-Pocket. We have excellent financing options available. In addition to $0 down, $0…”

Its website also mentions warranty, years in business and licensed, but not in a sentence we can quote cleanly.

• It is also reviewed on Yelp and the Better Business Bureau. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.
• It posts on Instagram and Facebook. A page that stopped posting years ago tells you something a listing will not.

Ordered by how much we can tell you about each, which is not an order of quality. We do not know which of these is better and would not say if we did.

• —The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
• —We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
• —We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
