Its one and two star share is 2 points above the typical installer in Alvin. Across Texas, 296 of the 728 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 16 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

Each mark is one company we hold in Alvin whose Google breakdown has been read, placed by its share of one and two star reviews. Helix Sun is the red one. The amber line is the middle of that set, which includes suppliers and maintenance businesses as well as installers.

Beware when contacting this company. Had an estimator come to the house recently, spent about an hour reviewing the quote they put together to install solar at my residence. Total cost came to approx. $19,000. That seemed a lot lower than I expected, and I was surprised. I even stated this to the estimator, who responded “it depends on a variety of factors, such as size of the house and energy usage”. She did not seem at all surprised by the price she had just quoted. The following morning I received an email with an “updated” quote, to the tune of $57,000. That’s a $38,000 update. I was told

Helix sun is PHENOMENAL. panels are of superior quality. System works exactly as explained and the solar panel and generator combo have been spectacular. Haven’t paid an electric bill for 6 months because the panels over produce power. I would highly recommend this product.

Solar made easy. Very personable team. You get to speak with the primary stake holders directly. Same day responses, usually in a hour. Helix files most of the HOA, CenterPoint documents for you or walks you through the few docs you must do directly. Installation team was great. Interactive, respectful, and cleaned up completely after installation. Highly recommended!

I used to work for two different solar companies. When I purchased my first house, the only company I trusted with solar was Helix Sun. When we met to discuss it, Ryan was professional, HONEST, and quickly replied to any texts I sent. Ryan is also a big part of the community, he's NOT some kid coming from another state to throw solar on your roof (I know because I used to sell solar and couldn't believe what I'd witness). With Helix Sun you're going to get the nicest panels with no grid lines all over your roof. With most companies after they install your solar, you still have to wait months f

Topics Google derives from the review text, with how often each appears. A frequent topic is not a good one: “price” turns up in praise and in complaints alike.

Elsewhere

  • It is also reviewed on Yelp and the Better Business Bureau. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.

Ordered by how much we can tell you about each, which is not an order of quality. We do not know which of these is better and would not say if we did.

What we don't know

  • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
  • We found nothing on a website for this company that states a warranty, a licence or how long it has traded.
  • Google publishes no street address for this company, so we cannot say which town it is based in. Alvin is the area its listing was returned for, not an address we hold.
  • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
  • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
