Its one and two star share is 2 points below the typical installer in the Portland area. Across Maine, 23 of the 43 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 204 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

Each mark is one company we hold in the Portland area whose Google breakdown has been read, placed by its share of one and two star reviews. Maine Energy Experts is the red one. The amber line is the middle of that set, which includes suppliers and maintenance businesses as well as installers.

What reviewers said

  • 1★ · around August 2026 · the company replied

The salesman come to our door, didn’t knock and then walked off and made eye contact with my husband through window but still never stopped or engaged. A few minutes later I went to leave and came upon the2 salesman pictured on website talking with someone else in a black car and once they saw me they immediately scattered which gave me a very uneasy/nervous feeling. All very odd behavior and not very good sales technique.

From day 1, I was impressed with the professionalism and efficiency in which this project was completed. The installation crew was exceptional, very much customer friendly, and well coordinated. If this is the direction you want to take, this is the company to do business with.

Cory, Brian and the rest of the crew installed our new solar system yesterday. The installation and entire project from sales to installation and support was handled in a professional and timely manner. Thanks to the entire Maine Energy Experts organization. 10 stars!

I had a great experience with Nick! When you call ask for him. He will set you straight and give you a great deal!

Topics Google derives from the review text, with how often each appears. A frequent topic is not a good one: “price” turns up in praise and in complaints alike.

What the company says about itself

Taken from its own website. We have not checked any of it, and a sentence on a website is not evidence.

Its website also mentions financing and free estimate, but not in a sentence we can quote cleanly.

    Elsewhere

    • Google also lists this company under appliance repair, heating and cooling and roofing. A company that does both roofing and solar can handle the roof work a panel install often needs.
    • It is also reviewed on the Better Business Bureau. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.
    • It posts on Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook. A page that stopped posting years ago tells you something a listing will not.

    Who Google shows alongside them

Google’s own “people also viewed” set, in Google’s order. It is Google’s comparison, not ours.

The ones without a link have no page here, either because Google does not categorise them as solar businesses or because we could not match the name to a listing with confidence.

Ordered by how much we can tell you about each, which is not an order of quality. We do not know which of these is better and would not say if we did.

    What we don't know

    • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
    • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
    • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
