Its one and two star share is 3 points above the typical installer in the Oakland area. Across California, 674 of the 1,529 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 137 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

Each mark is one company we hold in the Oakland area whose Google breakdown has been read, placed by its share of one and two star reviews. SolarSesame is the red one. The amber line is the middle of that set, which includes suppliers and maintenance businesses as well as installers.

Project (panels & batteries) is still in process but I've had a negative experience after the fast sales pitch. I was misled. The sales person assured me they do everything in-house but the guys that did the installation were subcontractors from a few hours away, which probably contribute to poor communication and installation that is not familiar with local code. Their communication and organization within the company and with the client are poor. Some issues: Ie: they told me an inspection was scheduled for x date a couple times. I happened to check the city web site and realized the date So

WARNING!!!! - I signed a contract and received installation from Solar Sesame back in October 2025 (to meet incentives). The sales experience was great, the installation was alright, but now I’ve learned that my battery isn’t working properly, the wrong breakers were installed (although approved by city inspectors) - causing an electrical fire hazard, and cannot get the PG&E incentive applied for correctly to date. I’ve contacted the owner-Maman Singh/installer/sales staff, filed a complaint with the CSLB, and am now going through the process of filing a claim against their surety bond. They s

Dan and Carrie sat with us and figured out how to get us exactly the solar system we wanted (Q-Cell panels and batteries, purchased up front). This went smoothly. The install crew then installed the panels on the roof quite quickly and efficiently. It’s worth noting that this is the only part of the project which they were contractually obligated to get done in a timely manner. What followed next was the installation of the battery system and power electronics, and the effort to get those systems inspected and cleared to operate by the city of Hayward and PG&E. I had a pleasant experience with David from Solar Sesame. He was on time for the appointment and represented Solar sesame with class. The consultation was thorough, and he was able to answer all of my questions. He was knowledgeable, and made the process easy to understand. When it came down to going over the numbers we were able to come to an agreement and got everything signed in house. I feel very comfortable with my decision to move forward with Solar Sesame. Thank you again. I highly recommend this company.

I had a great consultation with Solar Sesames Energy Consultant David. We met for a few hours to go over what my needs were for my home. He was knowledgeable, and was able to answer all of my questions. I appreciated his patience while my two toddlers were running all over the place. I’m taking some time to think about my decision, but I feel comfortable I will be move forward soon.

It’s hard to find good people. I am still in the early phases of having my system installed with these guys, but between the sales people like Karun and Matt, to their energy consultant specialist, Ryan O’Kennon, Who was incredibly kind and informative five star service at every interaction. Excited to see all of this pan out and I will keep you updated.

Elsewhere

  • It is also reviewed on the Better Business Bureau and Yelp. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.
  • It posts on YouTube, Instagram, X and Facebook. A page that stopped posting years ago tells you something a listing will not.

What we don't know

  • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
  • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
  • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.

Something wrong here? Tell us and a person will read it.
