Its one and two star share is 12 points above the typical installer in the Tacoma area. Across Washington, 13 of the 99 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 28 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

Every company we hold in the Tacoma area, on one axis

0% rated 1–2★25%

Each mark is one company we hold in the Tacoma area whose Google breakdown has been read, placed by its share of one and two star reviews. South Sound Solar, Inc. is the red one. The amber line is the middle of that set, which includes suppliers and maintenance businesses as well as installers.

They installed an inverter that stopped working after two years and never responded to the request to get it fixed (under warranty). Must be too busy selling all those solar panels under warranty... Super nice people when you can get a hold of them.

Don't bother, there are others out there. The installation crew was Fantastic. But you also have to deal with the office. I come from an administrative side of public service and these folks would not of had a job. I have to use two hands to count how many times I missed work because I was told that a crew or inspector was to show up that day. I never received a call, or did they even admit or know what I was upset about. Out of no where, then the crew shows up. I guess nobody works according to them. They were still looking for money. After the system is finally installed but It does not work

Very disappointed in customer service and rapid repair/replacement of broken equipment!

They were quick and efficient with getting our solar panels removed ahead of a roof repair. Megan was very responsive and easy to work with.

Wow. South sound solar is great. They came in with a good bid equal to the other lowest bid but better than two others. They are local and have an amazing staff. We ran into some unusual difficulties and they went above and beyond. I can not say enough about their work, communication, kindness, and consideration of my home, family and pets. They are professional yet real people that talk to you straight up. I highly recommend this company and would give them 6 stars if I could.

What the company says about itself

Taken from its own website. We have not checked any of it, and a sentence on a website is not evidence.

Its website also mentions established, but not in a sentence we can quote cleanly.

    • It posts on Instagram and Facebook. A page that stopped posting years ago tells you something a listing will not.

    Who Google shows alongside them

Google’s own “people also viewed” set, in Google’s order. It is Google’s comparison, not ours.

The ones without a link have no page here, either because Google does not categorise them as solar businesses or because we could not match the name to a listing with confidence.

Ordered by how much we can tell you about each, which is not an order of quality. We do not know which of these is better and would not say if we did.

    What we don't know

    • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
    • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
    • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
