Its one and two star share is 3 points above the typical installer in the Chicago area. Across Illinois, 64 of the 183 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 22 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

Each mark is one company we hold in the Chicago area whose Google breakdown has been read, placed by its share of one and two star reviews. 93Energy is the red one. The amber line is the middle of that set, which includes suppliers and maintenance businesses as well as installers.

Update: Please be aware that if you plan to have your roof replaced, the cost of removing and reinstalling the solar panels can be very high. It’s approximately half the cost of the entire new solar project. Unfortunately, I’m currently in this situation and have to deal with the steep expense. The labor charge is $180 per hour — it’s insane.

Most of the review they have here on google looks fake. The sales guy I talked to was unprofessional and rude. Look for a company who actually want to work with you. This company is unprofessional.

From starting the system design with Allen to Engineering, the set up with Mark and the install with seasoned electrician Nick this was an amazing experience. We installed an Enphase system with battery back up on our single-family home in Chicago. I highly recommend 93 energy for anybody looking for a system in the city of Chicago. This crew knows how to navigate the city and Comed bureaucracy along with the permitting and they do it with high quality and efficiency.

Great customer service, straightforward and streamllined process. What you are quoted is what you get with quality panels.

Topics Google derives from the review text, with how often each appears. A frequent topic is not a good one: “price” turns up in praise and in complaints alike.

What the company says about itself

Taken from its own website. We have not checked any of it, and a sentence on a website is not evidence.

  • Financing

“customized solar solutions and financing options for all sectors including…”

  • Established

“of 93Energy, has been in business since 2010 with warehousing and operations…”

  • Licensed

“companies I called. Locally based and licensed, permit approved in record time,…”

Elsewhere

  • It is also reviewed on the Better Business Bureau. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.
  • It posts on LinkedIn. A page that stopped posting years ago tells you something a listing will not.

Ordered by how much we can tell you about each, which is not an order of quality. We do not know which of these is better and would not say if we did.

What we don't know

  • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
  • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
  • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
