Its one and two star share is 1 point above the typical installer in the Boston area. Across Massachusetts, 87 of the 198 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.
The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 427 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

I'm incredibly disappointed with Boston Solar. They installed our panels two weeks ago but they still aren't working because we failed the city inspection because they used incorrect wiring. A worker came yesterday (3 business days after the failed inspection) but he was unable to make the repairs as the wiring hadn't arrived yet. He said he would be back the next morning, but no one came, no one is answering emails or the phone and it's well after lunch. The phone numbers on their website are all disconnected but I found the correct number on Google, though no one answered and I left a messag

Zero accountability. Do not trust. Incredibly frustrating experience with Boston Solar. I inherited a system they installed and have been trying to get them to fix a faulty gateway since August 2025. After months of sending videos, photos, and speaking to multiple people, I was promised a technician would come out in February. They completely stood me up. Now, they won’t even answer the phone. Given the current state of the solar industry, it wouldn't surprise me if they are going under. Save yourself the stress and go with a company that actually picks up the phone.

Bad Business... I installed a 30kw solar system in 2020, communication was good, system installed in reasonable time at the time, has worked well till now. ...Years later (problem).. I have a bad solar cell micro inverter. It was reported in Jan 2026 to Boston Solar to warranty repair the item. After getting the original Solar System money, now they ghost their customers. I have done many-many-many phone calls, emails, texts. All I hear from Boston Solar is excuses, false promises, B.S., maybe a future repair date, and they won't come warrant replace the item. Waiting 5-6 months is total B.S.!

I am happy with the panels, however it took four visits and required me to climb up on my roof after each visit to review the work performed. I would only recommend Boston Solar if you feel comfortable accessing your roof and reviewing the work of the installation team. I selected Boston Solar because they were willing to come out and do measurements on my roof and my yard before I signed a contract to help identify trees that could help (we were already taking down 5 trees, and they helped suggesting 3 additional trees that would be beneficial for solar production). Issues I then encountered

I just had my installation with Boston Solar- it went perfectly. Chris and his team were communicative, neat and extremely polite. My whole experience thus far has been very positive. Dillon the first person I spoke with was very knowledgeable, and I felt like he was providing information rather than selling me a system. I will wait now for the city inspection but I will be live with solar in no time. So glad I went with Boston Solar.

Update: The panels were enabled one day after the final inspection, and they are all running amazingly so far. Updates: Boston Solar just came and installed the panel today, and their installation team seemed really professional and did a really good job installing the panel. We are still waiting for the final inspection for the official PTO, and see how the panels will actually perform. Will update the review to 5 stars later on if they perform well. // This company doesn't seem to care at all about the customers. Due to their delayed processing, we could potentially lose over $10000 tax cred

Extremely disappointed in this company. They lie and have very poor communication. *edit* I am happy that we were eventually able to get this issue resolved, but still feel that their communication could be better.

What the company says about itself
Taken from its own website. We have not checked any of it, and a sentence on a website is not evidence.
Established
“expertise. We’ve been in business since 2011 and have completed more than 5,000…”
Licensed
“it all. Our in-house installers are licensed and certified, meaning you can rest…”
Its website also mentions financing, warranty, free estimate and 24/7 availability, but not in a sentence we can quote cleanly.
Elsewhere
- It is also reviewed on the Better Business Bureau, ConsumerAffairs and Yelp. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.
- It posts on Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, LinkedIn and X. A page that stopped posting years ago tells you something a listing will not.

Ordered by how much we can tell you about each, which is not an order of quality. We do not know which of these is better and would not say if we did.
What we don't know
- The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
- We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
- We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
