Its one and two star share is level with the typical installer in the Boston area. Across Massachusetts, 97 of the 198 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 103 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

Ordered by the share of one and two star reviews, weighted by how many reviews stand behind it. It ranks review records, not workmanship.

Every company we hold in the Boston area, on one axis

0% rated 1–2★15%

Each mark is one company we hold in the Boston area whose Google breakdown has been read, placed by its share of one and two star reviews. Brightstar Solar is the red one. The amber line is the middle of that set, which includes suppliers and maintenance businesses as well as installers.

my initial review was 5 stars, the process, the sale, the installation were great. but 4 months later we still have not gotten the final inspection to make our system live. May not be their problem but not sure whos holding this up and need their help to get my very expensive solar system up and running.

Well, I normally don’t do this because normally I don’t have to do this however this company seems to be really good at harassing people. They call me 1 to 2 times a day. I told them every single day to take me off their call list but yet they still harass me every day. And by the way, I refuse to even get an estimate from them because their sales people were extremely rude and hung up before I could even explain myself.

Absolutely couldn't be happier. Jon came and met with me in person to talk through the whole project at first. It felt fair and honest, I didn't feel rushed and he stayed until he had answered all of my questions. Mona and Jon updated me on timeline the whole way through. The workers were respectful when coming in and out of the house. The job was completed quickly - they came back later to ensure everything was working well. Handled all of the steps with the town and inspections and permits. Months later when I wanted to re-side my garage, they even agreed to come back and disconnect the box

We had a wonderful experience with Brightstar. We originally had conversations in 2019 and didn’t proceed but when we decided to implement in 2025, they were quick to respond and provide a quote. They helped us navigate the whole process and we never felt pressured or rushed into making a decision. Jon and Mona make a terrific team and we’re delighted with how the project worked out!

Jon and Mona were easy to work with and the process was straightforward. The installation had no problems. I would definitely recommend.

What the company says about itself

Taken from its own website. We have not checked any of it, and a sentence on a website is not evidence.

  • Established

“Massachusetts, building solar systems since 2009. We have been ranked a Top Solar…”

Its website also mentions free estimate, family owned and licence number, but not in a sentence we can quote cleanly.

Elsewhere

  • It posts on Instagram, X and Facebook. A page that stopped posting years ago tells you something a listing will not.

Who Google shows alongside them

Google’s own “people also viewed” set, in Google’s order. It is Google’s comparison, not ours.

The ones without a link have no page here, either because Google does not categorise them as solar businesses or because we could not match the name to a listing with confidence.

What we don't know

  • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
  • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
  • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
