Its one and two star share is 2 points below the typical installer in Maine. Across Maine, 24 of the 43 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 19 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

Every company we hold in Maine, on one axis

Each mark is one company we hold in Maine whose Google breakdown has been read, placed by its share of one and two star reviews. Cleantap Energy is the red one. The amber line is the middle of that set, which includes suppliers and maintenance businesses as well as installers.

What reviewers said

  • 5★ · around October 2025

Cleantap completed my install on Jan 2025. They did a great job and it is was a clean install. When they were done there was no cleanup for me. It has been 3 months now and the solar panels have been performing great. All of the cabling under the panels are well secured. There is nothing dragging on the roof. Very happy

Everything came out great and on budget. Very happy with Chris and his team.

Cleantap was great to work with on our solar project. They were very professional and able to efficiently and effectively get the job done as promised.

What the company says about itself

Taken from its own website. We have not checked any of it, and a sentence on a website is not evidence.

  • Warranty

“replaced it within a few days under warranty. Highly recommend them! Ami A.”

Its website also mentions financing and free estimate, but not in a sentence we can quote cleanly.

Elsewhere

  • Google also lists this company under roofing. A company that does both roofing and solar can handle the roof work a panel install often needs.
  • It is also reviewed on Yelp and the Better Business Bureau. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.
  • It posts on LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook. A page that stopped posting years ago tells you something a listing will not.

Ordered by how much we can tell you about each, which is not an order of quality. We do not know which of these is better and would not say if we did.

What we don't know

  • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
  • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
  • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
