Its one and two star share is 1 point above the typical installer in Melbourne. Across Florida, 271 of the 675 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 128 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

Each mark is one company we hold in Melbourne whose Google breakdown has been read, placed by its share of one and two star reviews. Excel Solar is the red one. The amber line is the middle of that set, which includes suppliers and maintenance businesses as well as installers.

This company has a bunch of kids that are under experienced working for them very expensive and overpriced for not so much quality work. They do not take care of there employees outside of their own family that they have working for them. The price of there repairs that they do are way to expensive for pv work done to there homes, and that’s coming from customers that I now service and had gotten quotes from excel before they called me. I would say this company does Shawty work as a whole and has no real experience dealing with back pressure for pool water systems and electrical work for PV sy

They originally installed my solar pool heater, during the estimate visit they painted beautiful picture and I was sold, however after the installation I found a problem, my pool would get quite hot in a summer, but in a winter time it wouldn’t get warm enough to swim in it, I asked the company for help few times, didn’t get much of the solution, was told that I can add few more panels, but they were pricey, so I gave up and was left with pool heater that really doesn’t do what it was intended to do- let us swim most of the year as I was told it would. Few years later I needed to change my roo

Excel responded promptly to our request for service. They were on time and communicative. Tyler keep us posted on the repairs and in an hour all was resolved. Getting this issue taken care of before the weekend was extra!!! We would recommend Excel to all.

What the company says about itself

Taken from its own website. We have not checked any of it, and a sentence on a website is not evidence.

  • Family owned

“solar company. Excel Solar is a family-owned and operated, full service solar…”

  • Established

“went into business for myself. Since 1981, I have been personally responsible…”

Its website also mentions licence number, but not in a sentence we can quote cleanly.

Elsewhere

  • It is also reviewed on Yelp and the Better Business Bureau. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.
  • It posts on Facebook. A page that stopped posting years ago tells you something a listing will not.

Ordered by how much we can tell you about each, which is not an order of quality. We do not know which of these is better and would not say if we did.

What we don't know

  • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
  • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
  • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
