Its one and two star share is 6 points above the typical installer in Maine. Across Maine, 10 of the 43 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 12 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

Each mark is one company we hold in Maine whose Google breakdown has been read, placed by its share of one and two star reviews. Insource Renewables is the red one. The amber line is the middle of that set, which includes suppliers and maintenance businesses as well as installers.

Got stood up twice by Vaughan (sp?). No call, nothing. Clearly they don't need the business. Went with another provider. Word of mouth travels fast, bad word of mouth travels faster.

Outstanding from beginning to end with great continued support

I hired INSOURCE RENEWABLES to install a rooftop solar system and heat pump at my residence in July 2018. Everyone on the team was a joy to deal with, from initial consultation to final installation and assistance dealing with my electric utility regarding the net metering agreement. I was so satisfied that I had another heat pump installed at my seasonal camp. I compared competing price quotes from competent vendors and Insource was the lowest. All work was done efficiently on the day promised to the highest possible standard, with the team taking the initiative to check in on my preferences

They did a great job, made sure everything was working properly before they left and explained everything so we understood how the system worked and what we needed to do if it didn't. Installed a solar array for electricity and replaced our pool's solar water heater, both working as expected. Would recommend them for anything solar.

Topics Google derives from the review text, with how often each appears. A frequent topic is not a good one: “price” turns up in praise and in complaints alike.

Elsewhere

  • It is also reviewed on Yelp. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.

Ordered by how much we can tell you about each, which is not an order of quality. We do not know which of these is better and would not say if we did.

What we don't know

  • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
  • We found nothing on a website for this company that states a warranty, a licence or how long it has traded.
  • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
  • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
