Its one and two star share is 1 point above the typical installer in the Boston area. Across Massachusetts, 93 of the 198 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 38 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

Each mark is one company we hold in the Boston area whose Google breakdown has been read, placed by its share of one and two star reviews. New England Solar Hot Water is the red one. The amber line is the middle of that set, which includes suppliers and maintenance businesses as well as installers.

What reviewers said

The company service is responsive, and they do good work, but solar hot water didn't save me any money. I track my energy bills, and there was no change at all between what I used before installing solar hot water and after.

Very responsive and easy to work with. They contacted me days before the installation, showed up on time, and were very professional and respectful during installation. I highly recommend them.

Highly recommend Bruce and the NESHW team! I couldn't be happier with our experience with New England Solar Hot Water. Bruce and his team are true professionals who clearly know the ins and outs of solar thermal technology like nobody else. It has been an absolute pleasure working with Bruce, who clearly takes immense pride in his craftsmanship and the final outcome of the project. Beyond installing an excellent, reliable product, their customer service and long-term support have been phenomenal. It gives you massive peace of mind knowing you can rely on their expertise whenever you have a que

What the company says about itself

Taken from its own website. We have not checked any of it, and a sentence on a website is not evidence.

  • Free estimate

“Use the form below to sign-up for a FREE consultation! We look forward to meeting with you…”
  • 24/7 availability

“with electrical) in Massachusetts. Emergency service available — get it installed within…”

Its website also mentions warranty and established, but not in a sentence we can quote cleanly.

Elsewhere

  • It is also reviewed on Yelp and ConsumerAffairs. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.
  • It posts on Facebook. A page that stopped posting years ago tells you something a listing will not.

Who Google shows alongside them

Google’s own “people also viewed” set, in Google’s order. It is Google’s comparison, not ours.

The ones without a link have no page here, either because Google does not categorise them as solar businesses or because we could not match the name to a listing with confidence.

What we don't know

  • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
  • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
  • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
