The owner, Charles seemed knowledgeable and gave prices below larger companies. The installation took longer than expected and the crew often showed up very late in the day or not at all. After the job was completed and we had paid in full, we discovered a problem with two panels that were supposed to operate our horse barn. They came back and made several repairs, but they still don't work properly and Charles stopped returning my calls long ago. We finally had another company come out to look at the panels and they found that only 12 of our 28 panels were hooked up.

promises to replace solar panels under warranty, but then never follows through and then does not answer phone or text. Talks a good game but a total loser

Extremely pleased with the quality of work from Off Grid By Design. It's hard to find a company that is honest and deals fairly (especially on the prices!) but this company definitely delivered. The owner went above and beyond to make sure we were happy

These days it is difficult to find that old fashioned, high integrity & high quality of work along fair market prices. That is what I got with Off Grid by Design. It has been a pleasure doing business.

Topics Google derives from the review text, with how often each appears. A frequent topic is not a good one: “price” turns up in praise and in complaints alike.

• It is also reviewed on Yelp and ConsumerAffairs. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.

Ordered by how much we can tell you about each, which is not an order of quality. We do not know which of these is better and would not say if we did.

• —The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
• —We found nothing on a website for this company that states a warranty, a licence or how long it has traded.
• —Google publishes no street address for this company, so we cannot say which town it is based in. Sandston is the area its listing was returned for, not an address we hold.
• —We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
• —We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
