Its one and two star share is 4 points above the typical installer in Michigan. Across Michigan, 33 of the 84 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 45 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

Earlier this summer I was looking for a solar company to hire for consulting as I was diying my solar install. I spoke with Ian at Peninsula Solar and he agreed I could ask as many questions I had as I was doing the install for a flat fee of $1500.00. I started off asking a few basic questions about roof mounted panels which I received a brief answer. I had a follow up question and it went unanswered then about 1.5 weeks later Ian responded (this is all over text messages) apologizing that he did not see my question (and never answered the question I had). Several weeks pass and I have a few m

**Buyer beware** Peninsula solar installed a nearly $10000 LG Chem Resu 10H storage battery in my home in May 2021. Battery developed an internal fault in June 2023 making it unusable. Multiple phone calls/voicemails along with emails to company representative were left unanswered, even after I offered to pay them to just replace it. Battery was under 10 year warranty but company wouldn't service it. **Buyer beware - they do not service what they sell.** Phone calls and emails are never returned. ***UPDATE June 2025*** Actually they do respond - to reviews... You just have to wait over a year!

Had a solar array with tracker installed 2018 by Peninsula Solar. Took about a year to get it operational with numerous unexplained delays. At the time the home was still under construction and when completed; wanted to move the inverter off the tracker pole and reinstalled underground next to backup batteries with provisions for a backup generator to charge the batteries when the grid was down. Notified Peninsula Solar that the underground room was complete, October 2021 and I was ready to install batteries and move the inverter. Multiple phone messages and e-mails were ignored until March 20

I can’t say enough good things about Peninsula Solar. From the initial consultation to the final installation, their team was knowledgeable, professional, and easy to work with. They took the time to answer all of my questions, explained the process clearly, and never made me feel pressured. The installation was completed on schedule, the workmanship was excellent, and the crew was respectful of my property throughout the entire project. It’s clear they take pride in their work and genuinely care about their customers. If you’re considering solar in the Upper Peninsula, I highly recommend Peni

Meant to give 5 stars but thumb didn’t work right. All the people we worked with at PS were professional and upfront about installation. Communication was great and follow up after completion was above and beyond expectations. Definitely recommend this company.

After a few years of research and shopping for an excellent Solar Installer in the UP, Peninsula Solar was the obvious choice. They worked with me every step of the way with clear communications and even entertained my more crazy ideas for the systems. Not only did they design and build an affordable system that met all of my specifications, but they did some of the cleanest electrical work i have experienced. I Highly recommend getting in touch with them about your energy independence or cost offsetting goals

What the company says about itself

Taken from its own website. We have not checked any of it, and a sentence on a website is not evidence.

  • Financing

“more sunlight. Financing Cash or financing available. Many homeowners use the Michigan…”
  • Warranty

“all have a 25 to 30-year manufacturer warranty. Our in-house electrical team follows…”
  • Established

“gain control over their energy. Since 2011, we have designed and installed…”

Its website also mentions free estimate and licensed, but not in a sentence we can quote cleanly.

Elsewhere

  • It is also reviewed on Yelp. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.
  • It posts on YouTube, Instagram and Facebook. A page that stopped posting years ago tells you something a listing will not.

The ones without a link have no page here, either because Google does not categorise them as solar businesses or because we could not match the name to a listing with confidence.

What we don't know

  • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
  • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
  • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
