Its one and two star share is 2 points above the typical installer in Grand Rapids. Across Michigan, 35 of the 84 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 26 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

Each mark is one company we hold in Grand Rapids whose Google breakdown has been read, placed by its share of one and two star reviews. Portable Sun LLC is the red one. The amber line is the middle of that set, which includes suppliers and maintenance businesses as well as installers.

Need help? Too bad. Won't return calls, won't return emails. I would have bought more stuff, but not now. Do not recommend.

Dealing with Portable Sun and Matt was a horrible experience. I kept getting ghosted for 3 or 4 days at a time when I had issues. I honestly thought I was getting scammed in the beginning. Placed order in October and still have not received everything as of 1/14/2025.And have no clue if I will and everything is paid for upfront (Thank goodness for PayPal). Also, some of the stuff wasn't right. Spending over $20k on solar to them. It is like they tell you what you want to hear until they make the sell. I have kept this review short as there was many issues over this whole time. Can supply all e

Great products and great customer service! Really enjoyed working with them The power out to my off grid cabin is great!

These people are top notch. Like to the point they made me feel bad for expecting them to ship around a holiday. They refunded by entire order... If the world had more people like these people, we would not be where we are. A+++

Topics Google derives from the review text, with how often each appears. A frequent topic is not a good one: “price” turns up in praise and in complaints alike.

What the company says about itself

Taken from its own website. We have not checked any of it, and a sentence on a website is not evidence.

Its website also mentions warranty, but not in a sentence we can quote cleanly.

    Elsewhere

    • It is also reviewed on the Better Business Bureau. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.
    • It posts on LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube and Facebook. A page that stopped posting years ago tells you something a listing will not.

    Who Google shows alongside them

Google’s own “people also viewed” set, in Google’s order. It is Google’s comparison, not ours.

The ones without a link have no page here, either because Google does not categorise them as solar businesses or because we could not match the name to a listing with confidence.

Ordered by how much we can tell you about each, which is not an order of quality. We do not know which of these is better and would not say if we did.

    What we don't know

    • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
    • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
    • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
