Its one and two star share is 3 points above the typical installer in the Asheville area. Across North Carolina, 59 of the 130 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 35 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

Each mark is one company we hold in the Asheville area whose Google breakdown has been read, placed by its share of one and two star reviews. Renu Energy Solutions is the red one. The amber line is the middle of that set, which includes suppliers and maintenance businesses as well as installers.

What reviewers said

I was very disappointed in the professionalism (or lack thereof) of my salesperson. He came out to our home, gave us his whole spiel, and then quoted us a total price of $45k for a 21 panel system on our 1680 sq ft manufactured home. That felt really high to me. Plus, he told me that Duke's program would only cover Tesla Powerwalls, which is not true. I emailed him the next morning, thanking him for coming out and making the presentation, but declining the offer based on the price. He never responded. Not even an, "Okay, thanks." I was pretty put off and found that unprofessional and frankly,

Sales Manager Christian is very thorough and has an extensive knowledge of solar power generation. He took the time to walk through several design scenarios so we could choose the best solution to fit our needs. Highly recommend Christian and Renu.

Christian is a great salesperson. Knowledgable, friendly and approachable.

Christian is perhaps the best sales manager we've ever worked with! So knowledgeable, so forthright, and super-responsive after we had more questions. Hope we can work with him more over the coming weeks!

What the company says about itself

Taken from its own website. We have not checked any of it, and a sentence on a website is not evidence.

  • Warranty

    “an in-house after-sales service and warranty... ” Nadine B. “ Working with Renu…”

Its website also mentions financing, established and licensed, but not in a sentence we can quote cleanly.

Elsewhere

  • It is also reviewed on the Better Business Bureau and Yelp. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.
  • It posts on YouTube, X, LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook. A page that stopped posting years ago tells you something a listing will not.

Who Google shows alongside them

Google’s own “people also viewed” set, in Google’s order. It is Google’s comparison, not ours.

The ones without a link have no page here, either because Google does not categorise them as solar businesses or because we could not match the name to a listing with confidence.

What we don't know

  • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
  • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
  • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.

Something wrong here? Tell us and a person will read it.
