Its one and two star share is 10 points above the typical installer in New Orleans. Across Louisiana, 14 of the 47 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 115 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

Despite signing and agreeing to their estimate we can’t seem to get Solar Alternatives to give us a date to install a new control panel for our solar panels. My husband has called, emailed, and texted for the last two months and we always get the response that someone will reach out with a date which never happens. We have used this company in the past and their response was good but slow. Be sure to have your patience on hand if you plan to use them.

Paid a very high price to have solar alternatives install an EV charger while overseas. Came back to find they ran 6 gauge romex to a 60 amp breaker, which is a code violation when attached to a continuous load like an EV charger. They also draped the cable over my roof rafters hanging unsecured near the attic door. This is a NEC code violation and a fire hazard. I've been waiting 5 days since my charger failde for a call back. I've filed a complaint with the BBB and will not hesitate to file an LSLBC complaint if this is not resolved next week. Max Erenberg was excellent when I first reached

Trying to make this one as concise as possible. Maybe someone will actually call me to address the issues. This journey began in 2022 and it has caused damage to my home, theft of property, and the uncertainty of a system that I never know if it is working correctly or will ever work properly. The problems started with install. Several different people came in several different stages. There have been at least a dozen visits over time. They have had to uninstall and reinstall more than once, and the promised tax credits, discounts, and more were never realized because of my income bracket. The

Installation was quick and seamless, but following through with Entergy was not! After two months of waiting for Entergy to approve our installation and get us connected, we found out that a required City Permit had not been issued. When I wrote both to the city and to Solar Alternatives, lo and behold the city came out and issued the permit on that very day. Now we're still paying Entergy $250 electricity charges every month while we wait -- well into our 3rd month after installation -- to get connected. Solar Alternatives dropped the ball here :-(

Had a question about output of my panels. Josh and Kip were serving next door neighbor’s panels. Even though I didn’t have an appointment, Josh took time to show me and explain what I was seeing on Enphase. Last year I had complete update to my system. From Kenny to service techs up on the roof, everyone was knowledgeable and accommodating. This company takes care of its customers. Good job guys

Jerry and Tobias did a fantastic job. I am working on getting my parents house in order and found out they hadn't had their panels cleaned in a very long time. Jerry and Tobias were thorough, and took the time to explain the system to me. We'll definitely use the service again

Ashley was amazing. She came to our house in the evening and spent 2 hours guiding us through the process and answering all of our questions. Went above and beyond. Awesome company

What the company says about itself

Taken from its own website. We have not checked any of it, and a sentence on a website is not evidence.

  • Established

“security, comfort, and independence. Since 2008, Solar Alternatives has proudly…”
  • Years in business

“had solar alternatives install them over 10 years ago. I recently had trouble reading…”
  • Licensed

“members include electrical engineers, licensed electricians, certified roofers, and…”

Its website also mentions warranty and free estimate, but not in a sentence we can quote cleanly.

Elsewhere

  • It is also reviewed on Angi. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.
  • It posts on LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and X. A page that stopped posting years ago tells you something a listing will not.

Who Google shows alongside them

Google’s own “people also viewed” set, in Google’s order. It is Google’s comparison, not ours.

The ones without a link have no page here, either because Google does not categorise them as solar businesses or because we could not match the name to a listing with confidence.

What we don't know

  • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
  • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
  • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
