Its one and two star share is 10 points above the typical installer in Charleston. Across South Carolina, 28 of the 101 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 55 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

Each mark is one company we hold in Charleston whose Google breakdown has been read, placed by its share of one and two star reviews. Southern Current is the red one. The amber line is the middle of that set, which includes suppliers and maintenance businesses as well as installers.

Such a shame that this company does not stand behind their installations. We loved the sales and installation side of our experience with Southern Current. When they decided to focus on commercial solar only, they left their residential customers high and dry. Like other reviewers, we were punted to some random company several hours from here, so when we had an issue, we were informed that the house call itself would cost us $800 before any work or diagnostics!! We found a local company, but they have been out here 4 times with no change except a $6000 estimate to remove and submit our panels

My Southern Current system was installed in 2017 with a 10 year warranty. My Enphase Gateway communication device has failed and I cannot get Southern Current to step up as they no longer provide service on their systems which is a major negative I would think for any new clients considering a Solar System from Southern Current.

2 year old system installed by Southern Current. The inverter box on our home stopped working about 2 months ago. We only realized it with the higher electric bill. Called Southern Current... they refuse to call back but did email and "kindly" let us know they've gotten out of the residential side of the business. (They failed to notify any of their customers.) They have no one to service the equipment and simply referred us to find a new service installer (over 2 hours from our home) and at our own expense. What a money pit and what a terrible business! Regretting we got involved with Souther

Sales and installation I would rate a 4 or 5, but service is a zero at this point. I've contacted them multiple times and get an answering machine. On the occasion I did get someone, buy requesting "sales" instead of service, I was put through to the same voicemail I had already left messages, Scott. I have a few panels not producing, one especially low for about 2 weeks. This is not a shade issue. Now the panel seems to have improved, but why? It would be nice if I could get a callback! I hate that what should be a 5* is currently a 1*. Update... finally received call back... supposed to foll

Update - August 21, 2020 Scott followed up and all is well with our system. We now have the ability to watch in real time our system producing electricity - looks great. Install went great. We are producing power and our bill is almost $0. But! I can’t get anyone to call me back - there are supposed to be 2 monitoring apps - have asked, asked, asked for the second one so I can monitor both. Not happy Les Barsony - President Wesco Trailers

Solar Installation: Jim Isaacs & Pat Isaacs, Caddell Rd. Indian Land, (Fort Mill), SC 29707 To whom it may concern: We are very pleased with the professional installation performed by your team this week! CJ, Ryan, Cole and Demetrius arrived on Monday morning after a long trip from Charleston, ready to go to work… and go to work they did! By Monday afternoon, all the roof supports and most of the rails were installed… a super human job if you ask me… it was 96 degrees in the shade and there was no shade! Everyone was friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable about their job, answering any questio

Topics Google derives from the review text, with how often each appears. A frequent topic is not a good one: “price” turns up in praise and in complaints alike.

Elsewhere

  • It is also reviewed on Yelp. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.
  • It posts on LinkedIn, Instagram and X. A page that stopped posting years ago tells you something a listing will not.

What we don't know

  • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
  • We found nothing on a website for this company that states a warranty, a licence or how long it has traded.
  • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
  • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
