Its one and two star share is 3 points below the typical installer in the San Francisco area. Across California, 568 of the 1,529 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 75 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

Each mark is one company we hold in the San Francisco area whose Google breakdown has been read, placed by its share of one and two star reviews. Sun Light & Power Solar is the red one. The amber line is the middle of that set, which includes suppliers and maintenance businesses as well as installers.

The tech, James, must have really been having a bad day. I was working the front desk (imagine a large 800 bed complex larger than some hotels). Before I can even reach out to someone from our maintenance team, this guy angrily shouts "should I just leave."

Invested $20k in a system this company sold us on in 2010. In spite of it, have spent thousands in true-up bills on top of huge monthly energy bill. Apparently getting a ‘diagnostic’ service in 2023 on same system will cost you $2800. How is any of this a cost saving to us, the customer??? Do not hire this company to do your solar.

I had an appointment for 11:30 AM this morning. It is now 1:33 and they haven't shown up and I haven't been able to reach the office by phone. Really? You can't even be bothered to call me?

We're coming up on our first year of having solar thanks to SLP. And we are very happy. The system works as designed and for most of the year (minus winter due to nearby trees) we are off the grid, saving us hundreds in electricity charges every month. This includes charging our EV and running the electric dryer. We've even had a couple of rare power outages and the system provided electricity throughout. A big shoutout to Nathaniel Johnson, our sales rep, who held our hands throughout the process. We had some installation challenges due to outside issues, but Nathaniel helped us navigate thro

Excellent work, done correctly the first time. Working well.

The staff is very friendly and helpful in understanding all that is involved in the commitment to buy or lease solar power. During the initial survey and the actual installation and connecting they continue to explain what is done and why.

What the company says about itself

Taken from its own website. We have not checked any of it, and a sentence on a website is not evidence.

  • Established

“solar solutions for 50 years! Since 1976, Sun Light & Power has been…”

Its website also mentions warranty and licence number, but not in a sentence we can quote cleanly.

Who Google shows alongside them

Google’s own “people also viewed” set, in Google’s order. It is Google’s comparison, not ours.

The ones without a link have no page here, either because Google does not categorise them as solar businesses or because we could not match the name to a listing with confidence.

What we don't know

  • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
  • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
  • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.

Something wrong here? Tell us and a person will read it.
