Its one and two star share is 1 point above the typical installer in San Francisco. Across California, 449 of the 1,529 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.
The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 142 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.
Every company we hold in San Francisco, on one axis
Each mark is one company we hold in San Francisco whose Google breakdown has been read, placed by its share of one and two star reviews. SolarUnion is the red one. The amber line is the middle of that set, which includes suppliers and maintenance businesses as well as installers.

Beware, they are closed as of the end of October,. 2025 I wish I could give less than one. Seldom gave bad review at all as I usually suck it up. I admit some of the problems might have caused by the delay of my own construction crews. But then the back and forth when somethings went long took very long time to resolve. Totally blindsided that a heat detector interconnect to a smoke alarm inside the house is required by the building code for the solar battery in the garage (ESS) in California. It would be very easy to take care during the construction to add the extra wiring. Now they said we

We signed a contract for the installation of solar panels with SolarUnion in March/April 2023. In July 2024, we received an email with a unilateral cancellation of our contract. We had to contact them to determine what happened. Per their admissions on phone and email, they failed to submit our permit application and so they also failed to secure the NEM 2.0 rate, which is more favorable than the NEM 3.0 rate. Per their email: "I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but after conferring with all pertinent parties I regret to inform you that your site has not secured net metering 2.0 status."

Update - I am still waiting for a transformer upgrade and we're at over a year and a half since the install, and PG&E is saying it won't be until April 2025, nearly 2 years since I first started this project. SolarUnion also came out after I had to figure out there is a way to potentially use the SolarEdge inverter to limit the amount of power going out to the grid (supposedly this is supposed to work). Goes to show they don't even know how their systems work. That was September 2024, and I still have not seen any sort of reduction in my solar bill, so that's probably not even working now. Who

The guys at SolarUnion, especially Jeramie in Santa Rosa, were stellar. Got it done in October '22. I left a 5 star review. 2 years went by, and I was unhappy with the true-up costs from PG&E. So I inquired about adding a few more panels - (under NEM 2.0 you're allowed to add a little bit of capacity without knocking yourself out of that tier.) I used their messaging system. No calls back, nothing. I called, finally spoke to someone, and they said an engineer/project coordinator would give me a call. Nothing. I documented 3 emails/messages, 4 phone calls with messages, and two live interaction

Update: If you need to transfer ownership, go to Solaredge web page "Request for Monitoring Site Transfer and New User Access", I've been asking how to change ownership for so long and no one in SolarUnion answered my questions, now I found the answer myself. Paid $99 dollars, and the site transferred to next owner (sold my house). Previous reviews: After seeing Picky Engineer's review, I'm confident that SolarUnion is the perfect choice for my OCD family's solar panel installation needs. & Thank you for all your review, it helps through when I have doubt but later your review, the staff name

SolarUnion installed a 6 KWh system with battery backup in East Bay for us under NEM 3.0. The whole process took about 6 months. They took care of designing system, getting permits with city, working with PGE, and getting everything connected. The installers were excellent and also installed the EV charger and changed the house main panel to upgrade electrical service to 200 AMP. They respected the contract terms and I expect them to be around for the 10 year battery warranty and 25 year solar panel warranty in case anything fails. I have been very happy with the system and power consumption f

We were very pleased with the installation and are very much enjoying having a mini-solar plant on our roof. It's a big job to do all the design, the permits, the install, and the interconnection. Nice work all around Solar Union!

- It is also reviewed on Yelp, Angi and HomeAdvisor. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.

Ordered by how much we can tell you about each, which is not an order of quality. We do not know which of these is better and would not say if we did.
What we don't know
- The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
- We found nothing on a website for this company that states a warranty, a licence or how long it has traded.
- We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
- We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
