Its one and two star share is 4 points below the typical installer in the San Francisco area. Across California, 615 of the 1,529 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.
The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 46 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.
Every company we hold in the San Francisco area, on one axis
Each mark is one company we hold in the San Francisco area whose Google breakdown has been read, placed by its share of one and two star reviews. Save a Lot Solar is the red one. The amber line is the middle of that set, which includes suppliers and maintenance businesses as well as installers.

They are out of business. They finished the install, collected money, then disappeared, leaving us to deal with PTO.

Save a Lot Solar upgraded our inverters in January 2024 to Iq8 inverters. This required a new controller that was not included in the estimate an cost us an addition $2000. This was not appreciated because we thought that we were buying a package that included all the necessary parts. This was only the beginning of the problems. After months Save A Lot Solar was not able to fix the communication errors and eventual shutdown is the system. After quite a few months we took the issue in our own hands because of the lack of support from Save A Lot solar. Finally after working directly with Enphase

They did my panels a few years ago and I could not be happier with the service, and the product.

Locally run, great people, skilled at designing a small system that the big players couldn’t be bothered with. On time and on budget with no surprises.

I shopped around with 4 providers/installers of solar panels/systems. I'll be honest, I was somewhat put off by the name "Save A Lot Solar", but ended up selecting them because 1) they offered the type of equipment I was looking for, and 2) (honestly) they were less expensive than their competition. I am very pleased with the results. They delivered as promised, against a somewhat tight time-table. Good communication, thorough bid, friendly installation team, and good end result. Also, I'll mention that there was an issue during installation that was weather related (we ended up with some mino

Topics Google derives from the review text, with how often each appears. A frequent topic is not a good one: “price” turns up in praise and in complaints alike.
Elsewhere
- It is also reviewed on Yelp. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.

Ordered by how much we can tell you about each, which is not an order of quality. We do not know which of these is better and would not say if we did.
What we don't know
- The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
- We found nothing on a website for this company that states a warranty, a licence or how long it has traded.
- The website on this company's Google listing does not resolve to a working page, so we do not link it.
- We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
- We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
