Its one and two star share is level with the typical installer in the Sandy area. Across Utah, 54 of the 167 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 25 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

Each mark is one company we hold in the Sandy area whose Google breakdown has been read, placed by its share of one and two star reviews. Tephra Solar & Roofing is the red one. The amber line is the middle of that set, which includes suppliers and maintenance businesses as well as installers.

Their phone number doesn't work. Still making payments on their solar system but unable to contact them. Need a lawyer to deal this this now so now extra work. Don't buy from this company. Clearly a scam.

Worst company, my solars haven’t producing energy for the past 3 months. Agents keep having me going back and forth with different answer. At this point I feel like they are just playing games and nothing is getting done and fixed. This is so overwhelming and stressing. Definitely regret getting solar

Beware, they will push you to file a claim on your roof when there is no actual storm damage. They will hope the claim gets approved, but when it gets denied they will ghost you.

Nate was excellent. He was respectful, knowledgeable about the process and respect our property. He did a very thorough inspection, took photos, found the right damage, walked us through the claims process and got everything squared away in no time. Even took my Christmas lights down while he was up there! 🤣 …

Nathen was great to work with. He was very professional. Spent an appropriate amount of time surveying my roof noting damage and taking pictures. He explained all photos and why they were important Highly recommend working with him.

Wonderful experience overall. Brandon was the best, Johny was cool too, but seriously Aime and Brandon were mvps.

What the company says about itself

Taken from its own website. We have not checked any of it, and a sentence on a website is not evidence.

  • Warranty

“panels are made in the USA, and the warranty was the best of any estimate that we…”

  • Established

“Steve has been in the Solar industry since 2012. He started on the roof as an…”

  • Years in business

“Team Jared Slemboski CEO Jared has over 10 years of solar sales and installation…”

Its website also mentions free estimate, but not in a sentence we can quote cleanly.

Elsewhere

  • It is also reviewed on HomeAdvisor and Angi. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.
  • It posts on LinkedIn. A page that stopped posting years ago tells you something a listing will not.

Who Google shows alongside them

Google’s own “people also viewed” set, in Google’s order. It is Google’s comparison, not ours.

The ones without a link have no page here, either because Google does not categorise them as solar businesses or because we could not match the name to a listing with confidence.

Ordered by how much we can tell you about each, which is not an order of quality. We do not know which of these is better and would not say if we did.

What we don't know

  • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
  • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
  • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.

Something wrong here? Tell us and a person will read it.
