Its one and two star share is 1 point below the typical installer in California. Across California, 788 of the 1,529 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 91 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

Adam performed a solar inspection on a home that I have in escrow to be sold. Adam did a very thorough inspection and is great with clients in explaining his findings in layman's terms that are easily understood. I've used him before and will certainly use him again on any homes that I sell that have solar on them. Thanks for the great job, Solar Detectives! ~ Ken

Bill was extremely knowledgeable, down to earth, thorough and relatable. I can't say enough good things about the knowledge he brought forth in our Real Estate transaction.

Bill and Adam with The Solar Detective did an outstanding job on our solar inspection. As far as I've found, they're the only company in San Diego offering this level of dedicated solar inspection service and it shows. They were incredibly thorough, covering every component of the system: panels, inverter, wiring, mounting, all of it. Nothing was overlooked. What really sets them apart is the report itself. It's beautifully organized, with clear photos paired right next to easy to understand descriptions, so you're never left guessing what you're looking at or why it matters. They break down c

Topics Google derives from the review text, with how often each appears. A frequent topic is not a good one: “price” turns up in praise and in complaints alike.

Elsewhere

  • It is also reviewed on Yelp. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.
  • It posts on Instagram and Facebook. A page that stopped posting years ago tells you something a listing will not.

Who Google shows alongside them

Google’s own “people also viewed” set, in Google’s order. It is Google’s comparison, not ours.

The ones without a link have no page here, either because Google does not categorise them as solar businesses or because we could not match the name to a listing with confidence.

What we don't know

  • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
  • We found nothing on a website for this company that states a warranty, a licence or how long it has traded.
  • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
  • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
