Its one and two star share is level with the typical installer in the Albuquerque area. Across New Mexico, 34 of the 65 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 88 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

Ordered by the share of one and two star reviews, weighted by how many reviews stand behind it. It ranks review records, not workmanship.

Each mark is one company we hold in the Albuquerque area whose Google breakdown has been read, placed by its share of one and two star reviews. WhyGen Solar is the red one. The amber line is the middle of that set, which includes suppliers and maintenance businesses as well as installers.

Their salesmen came to my door to give me false information, that the PRC is finalizing the PNM deal with Blackstone in July but there’s a way to opt out, by signing up for whatever they’re selling. Luckily, I’ve been closely following the court proceedings and know that this is not true. They’re spreading misinformation and using news headlines and fear of rate hikes to make sales off people who don’t have the facts. Despicable.

Your door to door sales won't stop knocking on my door and ignoring my MULTIPLE 'No Soliciting' signs.
  • 1★ · around August 2025

How many times does a rep need to pound on the door and ring the doorbell? I guess if no one answers the first time, keep ringing the doorbell and knocking right? I'm so tired of these solar companies knocking on my door day or night completely disregarding the "no trespassing" and "no soliciting" signs next to my door. Either they can't read, or they just don't care. These poor qualities reflect on a business that I would never want to support.

Worked with Max Sternburg on my solar project. Process was easy, professional, and handled on time. Strongly recommend working with Max and WhyGen to others

Professional, knowledgable and excellent communicators! I was highly dubious when I first me Juan at my door. But he was patient and professional and quickly got me to a meeting with Max S. Max explained in full detail the process and worked through the options. Max has been excellent at every step. The process has met or exceeded all promises. Highly recommend this company!

Robert Abeyta and Kat Wheeler were recommended to me by family. And once I meet them went over options and the process went really well and really smooth 👌. …

What the company says about itself

Taken from its own website. We have not checked any of it, and a sentence on a website is not evidence.

Its website also mentions warranty and free estimate, but not in a sentence we can quote cleanly.

    Elsewhere

    • It is also reviewed on the Better Business Bureau and Yelp. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.

    What we don't know

    • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
    • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
    • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
