Seemed like very nice people, but unfortunately this is a business that has left me hanging for 6 months. My solar loan was approved in the spring, and they still have not completed the job. I gave a deposit, which is the only reason I haven't just gone to another company. The owner responds to my texts promising to make it right, but it's been over a month of that promise, and still no solar panels. I wish I never made that deposit.

Built Well installed my system at least ten years ago. When it stopped working they came, eventually, and told me I needed critter guards, haven’t heard from them in at least five years thoug I called a ridiculous number of times. Five years, zero output from my system. I’m trying now to get another company to come do the repairs.

Built well installed my solar panels over ten year ago was a good company then. The First time my inverted broke could not contact company. The phone number posted on wed went to an employee who was no longer with the company and they never checked that voice mail box. Inverter broke again 3 months out of warranty after 4 or 5 voice mail they finally sent someone to look at it. After two days I had to call them for a status (you would think they would call). Told me it was broken and was checking with Inverter manufacturer to see if it is better to repair or replace. 3 weeks now and will not r

Had an issue with the internet connection from my inverter to my computer. Called (and called and called) my installer and finally found out they went out of business. Solar Edge (the monitoring system people) were no help. I took a gamble and based on their nearby location and google reviews called Builtwell Solar. Nancy was so nice and promised to have a tech to me shortly based on the weather. A few days later Aaron came out in the snow and spent a significant amount of time carefully checking my system. He found the problem and said he'd be back once the required parts came in. The owner D

I'm located in Bayville, NY. I had contracted with Built Well Solar to install solar panels on my last two homes. With my first home I requested quotes from multiple companies and either didn't like their sales pitch, price or equipment. Built Well was a refreshing change. No pressure, just a presentation of the value added by their installation. They use state of the art equipment and did indeed, eliminate my electric bill. They performed the work on time and on budget. When I sold my first home the buyers mentioned that the solar panels were one of the factors in making their decision. Needl

Dan and his crew did everything they promised in a timely manner. I would definitely recommend them for your solar needs

Reviewer names are not published here. Negative reviews are shown first because they are the ones a listing hides, not because they are more representative.

What reviewers keep mentioning

  • company 10
  • solar panels 5
  • team 4
  • bills 4
  • employee 3
  • solar needs 2
  • reliability 2

Topics Google derives from the review text, with how often each appears. A frequent topic is not a good one: “price” turns up in praise and in complaints alike.

What the company says about itself

Taken from its own website. We have not checked any of it, and a sentence on a website is not evidence.

  • Years in business

“solar panels may have changed a bit over 25 years – today, black-on-black aesthetically…”

Its website also mentions better business bureau, insured and licensed, but not in a sentence we can quote cleanly.

Elsewhere

  • It is also reviewed on Yelp and the Better Business Bureau. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.
  • It posts on X, Instagram, YouTube and Facebook. A page that stopped posting years ago tells you something a listing will not.

What we don't know

  • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
  • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
  • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
