Its one and two star share is 1 point below the typical installer in Washington. Across District of Columbia, 10 of the 22 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 95 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

City Renewables was easy to work with during the installation of our solar panels, but we have had repeated intermittent problems with one of the arrays they installed. I find them to be slow and not very responsive when I contact them to have them come check it out what the problem is and fix what is not working properly. If I had it to do over again, I would use a different company.

The team is super friendly and committed to solar. However, you still need to educate yourself before moving forward on every aspect of solar. You really need to commit to solar for environmental reasons over economic reason, regardless what any sales person will tell you. It took an entire year of having a solar system, seeing the entire process played out with Pepco, how the weather impacts productions, and selling SRECS. A lot of questions I had were answered in a way to close the deal in a manner that benefited Ben and the team more than anyone. In the end, I think City Renewables is the b

Ben and the team at City Renewables installed solar panels on our place in DC and were great to work with. Super responsive, easy to deal with, and everything was handled smoothly from start to finish. Ben does a great job managing the whole process. Really glad we went solar with City Renewables.

The team at City Renewables is very help hepful and easy to deal with. They designed the solar solution for my house with ease and worked around a few build challenges. They are available and willing to explain and find solutions.

We had our solar system installed by City Renewables nearly 4 years ago and were very happy with the process. Ben guided us through each step and has continued to provide excellent customer service. Recently, we updated our roof, and the solar removal/reinstallation was swift and smooth. Unlike friends’ experiences with other companies, Ben's advice truly had our best interests at heart, giving us the best value. In our first 3 complete years, our SRECs payments have covered half of our loan amount, plus significant energy savings on our electric bill. If you want a company that offers great p

Its website also mentions free estimate, years in business and insured, but not in a sentence we can quote cleanly.

Elsewhere

  • It is also reviewed on Yelp. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.
  • It posts on Facebook. A page that stopped posting years ago tells you something a listing will not.

Ordered by how much we can tell you about each, which is not an order of quality. We do not know which of these is better and would not say if we did.

What we don't know

  • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
  • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
  • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
