Its one and two star share is 2 points above the typical installer in San Diego. Across California, 629 of the 1,529 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 25 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

Each mark is one company we hold in San Diego whose Google breakdown has been read, placed by its share of one and two star reviews. CM Solar Electric is the red one. The amber line is the middle of that set, which includes suppliers and maintenance businesses as well as installers.

CM Solar Electric just finished installing my 16 panel and battery solar system and did a great job. We are about a week into running the system and so far so good. They were flexible with the arrangement of the panels and battery and were overall great to work with. I would highly recommend them so far based on my experience. Carlos has a good team of installers and electricians to support the work. You can trust them with your solar install.

CM was recommended by a neighbor and we are pleased with the work done. We felt the cost was fair. All the employees we dealt with were good at their jobs. Our questions were answered and the work was done in a timely manner. Our system is up and running. Thanks to Carlos and his crew!!

Overall I'm pleased to have hired Carlos and CM Solar to install my PV Solar system. I did research for several months on the different installers around town and after meeting Carlos I felt comfortable and confident he and his team would do a good job. With all the negative things you hear about other installers, I felt it was necessary to do the deep research on the various companies around town. Carlos was attentive and informative from our 1st meeting. He was quick to respond either by email, text or phone call whenever I had a question. Su and Bobby were also attentive during the administ

What the company says about itself

Taken from its own website. We have not checked any of it, and a sentence on a website is not evidence.

Its website also mentions warranty, free estimate, family owned and years in business, but not in a sentence we can quote cleanly.

    Elsewhere

    • It is also reviewed on Thumbtack and Yelp. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.
    • It posts on Facebook. A page that stopped posting years ago tells you something a listing will not.

    Who Google shows alongside them

Google’s own “people also viewed” set, in Google’s order. It is Google’s comparison, not ours.

The ones without a link have no page here, either because Google does not categorise them as solar businesses or because we could not match the name to a listing with confidence.

Ordered by how much we can tell you about each, which is not an order of quality. We do not know which of these is better and would not say if we did.

    What we don't know

    • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
    • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
    • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
