Its one and two star share is 5 points above the typical installer in San Diego. Across California, 496 of the 1,529 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.
The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 257 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.
Every company we hold in San Diego, on one axis
Each mark is one company we hold in San Diego whose Google breakdown has been read, placed by its share of one and two star reviews. Sunline Energy is the red one. The amber line is the middle of that set, which includes suppliers and maintenance businesses as well as installers.

They damaged our roof during installation and our roof started leaking the first time it started raining. They told us it was because our roof was old and it had nothing to do with their installation (yet somehow we had never had issues previously with the roof leaking) The same person who told us this was also the person who performed the pre-installation roof inspection and determined that our roof was just fine to go ahead and proceed with the install. The roof only leaked where the panels were. The lack of accountability was astounding and they were also aggressively denying their role in

The solar panel installation was significantly delayed due to their internal miscommunications. After the installation, it was not possible to get them to respond to any of our questions.

We had high hopes for going solar, but unfortunately our experience with this company was frustrating and drawn out. There were multiple issues throughout the process, including failed inspections, miscommunications between their internal teams, and delayed responses when we reached out with concerns. Our first inspection failed in December 2024 because the solar panels were installed too close to the edge of the eaves —a basic code requirement that should have been caught. We ultimately had to remove a panel. We also failed an electrical inspection and had technicians back on-site several tim

They didn't listen to the original request. Regardless of 3 attempts to clarify what was required. This resulted in them having to resubmit everything. The customer service post installation is horrible.

Have a problem with my SunPower battery not communicating. Solar works and sending power to the grid just that the battery is not working. Marcos came by and did a full check on my system and the battery. Marcos discovered a few wires that were not tight and one cable that came loose. It appears that one cable may have damaged the circuit board and that will be replaced . Thank You Marcos

Our Ac unit wasn’t working for 2 days, Adrian showed up and checked the outside unit and came in side the house to check the controls. He magically turned it on with his touch. Said I just need to change out the filters so the machine doesn’t overwork itself. I’m glad he was very honest and professional about everything. Will most definitely call him again for the future.

We had a great experience with Sunline Energy, especially their technician Adrian. Our AC stopped working at one of our rental properties on a Friday afternoon, and I called around 2 PM hoping someone could help on such short notice. Adrian was incredibly responsive and was able to come out by 4 PM that same day. Thankfully, it turned out to be a very simple fix — the thermostat had accidentally been taken off the “Auto” setting. Adrian quickly figured out the issue, explained what happened, and was extremely kind and professional throughout the visit. What impressed me most was that he didn’t

What the company says about itself
Taken from its own website. We have not checked any of it, and a sentence on a website is not evidence.
Warranty
“right way—one contractor, one warranty, seamless coordination. EV Charging…”
Licensed
“independence. Roofing Services As licensed roofers, we can repair or replace…”
Its website also mentions free estimate and established, but not in a sentence we can quote cleanly.
Elsewhere
- It is also reviewed on Yelp. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.
- It posts on Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and X. A page that stopped posting years ago tells you something a listing will not.

Ordered by how much we can tell you about each, which is not an order of quality. We do not know which of these is better and would not say if we did.
What we don't know
- The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
- We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
- We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
