Its one and two star share is 2 points below the typical installer in San Diego. Across California, 788 of the 1,529 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 136 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

Every company we hold in San Diego, on one axis

0% rated 1–2★20%

Each mark is one company we hold in San Diego whose Google breakdown has been read, placed by its share of one and two star reviews. Soltech Electric is the red one. The amber line is the middle of that set, which includes suppliers and maintenance businesses as well as installers.

What reviewers said

Soltech is a great solar company. Very knowledgeable workers, attention to detail is top notch. Had the pleasure of doing business with them on my project. Not only were they very very competitive price wise but I feel I got a better install then my neighbors. They stuck to the quote and there were no surprise fees. System is working amazing and am glad I can finally tell the utility company to kick rocks.

We wanted a company that was transparent about cost and the timeline, while not sacrificing quality products. We met with a few companies and Soltech Electric was the clear choice thanks to their friendly and knowledgeable team. Everything worked out great with a smooth installation and we are thrilled with the system!

Got a few quotes for solar and ended up going with Soltech Electric. I was looking for a company that was upfront, easy to work with, and had solid products. These guys checked all the boxes. Install was smooth, the crew was friendly and worked around my schedule, and now the system’s up and running without a hitch. Glad I went with them.

Topics Google derives from the review text, with how often each appears. A frequent topic is not a good one: “price” turns up in praise and in complaints alike.

What the company says about itself

Taken from its own website. We have not checked any of it, and a sentence on a website is not evidence.

  • Financing

“a cash purchase or the different financing options. We decided to finance it and I am…”

  • Warranty

“our appliances are backed by the best warranty in the industry. Why Should You…”

Its website also mentions licensed, but not in a sentence we can quote cleanly.

Elsewhere

  • It is also reviewed on the Better Business Bureau and Yelp. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.
  • It posts on LinkedIn and Facebook. A page that stopped posting years ago tells you something a listing will not.

Ordered by how much we can tell you about each, which is not an order of quality. We do not know which of these is better and would not say if we did.

What we don't know

  • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
  • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
  • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
