Its one and two star share is 9 points above the typical installer in Austin. Across Texas, 227 of the 728 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 484 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

0% rated 1–2★20%

Each mark is one company we hold in Austin whose Google breakdown has been read, placed by its share of one and two star reviews. Freedom Power is the red one. The amber line is the middle of that set, which includes suppliers and maintenance businesses as well as installers.

Scheduling with these people are nightmare. Always an excuses as to why they cannot schedule your appointment after taking your money. We have been working on getting a date for almost a month now. We are regretting getting our solar panels from freedom solar. It is not freedom to have their panels.

The company is so disorganized now. My project has taken seven months, and I’m still getting excuses for not completing the job!

Could not imagine a worse solar experience. The pre install and install process went well. They were super helpful getting permits from the city and approval from our HOA. That’s about where the good ends. We have had issues with the solar panels and inverter since they were installed. They send people out but they either say the problem is fixed (when it isn’t) or they don’t have the equipment they need or need to send out a different team with usually a month in-between being able to get the next appointment scheduled. We have had the panels since October and haven’t had a single full month

If you don't want to read my long post here is the summary: Don't expect great service. HORRIBLE PROJECT MANAGEMENT, VERY UNRESPONSIVE, I recommend looking elsewhere for solar. The long review: I formally contracted Freedom Solar to install a full home solar system with battery backup in August 2025. It was a bit of a logistical nightmare to get the installation completed before Dec 31, 2025. You cannot rely on the customer portal to report correct information on project progress. One example is they reported the utility interconnect application was accepted in October and then I found out whe

Really a great experience start to finish. Carlos was the first fella who came out to take a look at the "damage". He was right on time, I got notifications on what time he would arrive. He got right to work and really knew his stuff! Super nice guy, very friendly and knowledgeable and spoke in layman's terms which I really appreciated. The system was totally kaput. So, he got me all set up with a new system, and even installed multiple window units in our house to knock the temperature down while I waited for the new unit to be installed. Who does that? Talk about above and beyond - thank you

Carlos was very patient and very personable. He worked very hard to get our business. I highly recommend him and Freedom Power.

Fantastic. Ease of process. Cost effective solutions. Transparent. Greg Johnson was very patient with all my questions and concerns and very knowledgeable in this field.

What the company says about itself

Taken from its own website. We have not checked any of it, and a sentence on a website is not evidence.

  • EPA certified

“services in Austin and Houston. As EPA-certified professionals, we ensure every job is…”

  • 24/7 availability

“Pro-level purification working 24/7 so your air stays clean without you…”

  • Years in business

“solar panels in the U.S.A. for over 10 years, which meet or exceed all industry…”

  • Licensed

“our experienced, certified, and licensed technicians provide reliable and…”

Its website also mentions financing, warranty and free estimate, but not in a sentence we can quote cleanly.

Elsewhere

  • It is also reviewed on the Better Business Bureau and Yelp. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.
  • It posts on X, Facebook and Instagram. A page that stopped posting years ago tells you something a listing will not.

Who Google shows alongside them

Google’s own “people also viewed” set, in Google’s order. It is Google’s comparison, not ours.

The ones without a link have no page here, either because Google does not categorise them as solar businesses or because we could not match the name to a listing with confidence.

Ordered by how much we can tell you about each, which is not an order of quality. We do not know which of these is better and would not say if we did.

What we don't know

  • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
  • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
  • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.
