  How many years before replacing and what is done with the bad panels? It's not truly green until you invest in the recycling of those, the same as batteries.

  The solar modules with microinverters used by GMS made it much easier for me to add capacity to my existing 12 yr old PV system. I also appreciated dealing with one company to do both the PV and a mini-split HP heat pump. The company is easy to work with, but make sure you are there when they are doing the installation. On the negative side, I specifically requested that the new PV panels be installed so that they would not keep snow and ice from clearing off the existing panels. The system they installed had taller mounting brackets than the old one, and did in fact block snow and ice, which

  The good: seem like nice enough people, competitive pricing. The bad: poor communication with customers, high staff turnover, unreliable subcontractors, unable/unwilling to fulfill contract on a ground mount system. If you are looking for anything other than a simple roof mount system, look elsewhere. Our dream to power our home and farm is now dead due to our experience with GMS.

  Reliable, friendly, always available. Really seemed to care about getting things right. Some folks went out of there way to be helpful. I would not hesitate to use them.

  Installation was efficient and professional. After some issues with net metering were sorted out everything has been smooth. I went with solar primarily for power backup during outages and in that role the system provides a seamless transition to battery when needed. Our monthly electric bills are now 1/3 of what they were (and at least half of what we are charged on our current bills are those extraneous tacked-on fees for this and that...). I'm happy with the system, and satisfied with Green Mountain Solar's work.

  Solar panels are a large investment and there is a lot to consider. Ian and his team were sensitive to the fact that this was all new and overwhelming and took time to ensure I understood everything before making decisions. Their installation team were amazing in the middle of winter in the snow. They were efficient, knowledgeable and professional.
