Its one and two star share is level with the typical installer in the Honolulu area. Across Hawaii, 34 of the 87 installers whose breakdown Google has published carry a higher share than this one.

The percentages are Google’s own arithmetic over every review it holds, not a sample we assembled. Separately we hold 78 review texts for this company, quoted below. Google publishes review ages rather than dates, so every date here is approximate.

Each mark is one company we hold in the Honolulu area whose Google breakdown has been read, placed by its share of one and two star reviews. Hawaii Energy Connection is the red one. The amber line is the middle of that set, which includes suppliers and maintenance businesses as well as installers.

Half of our panels are not working and they keep telling us they are scheduling someone. Been 3 months generating only 1/2 power.

Very poor customer service. No one answers the phone or call you back when you leave a message. Feels like they only jump when there is a "NEW" customer interested in solar. Getting the intention that they forget about you once they've taken your money and put up your system.

Terrible service. My PV is down, so ive been houding them since july. They've NEVER answered the phone. My voicemails go unanswered. I got a call once saying a technician is coming. He showed up 3 months later and didn't fix anything. They've emailed me saying someone is coming again in December, 2022. It's now January 2023, and yet no-call no-show. My PV system has been offline for 6 months now, and I still haven't heard back from anyone. I don't recommend them to anyone looking for PV as there is NO customer support.

Eddie, was and has been exceptional from the start excellent communication, honest, friendly, and thorough. I had spent time shopping around other companies, but having an interface representative, who was extremely professional, and on top of it, made the decision easy the crew who came out and KeAhi We’re also professional, kind, friendly and clean(working I mean) I will proudly and happily be recommending KumuKit/HEC Two friends and family as my experience has been nothing but positive. Technicians arrived after courtesy calling me before their arrival. Both were professional and clearly explained the connectivity recovery process. Recovery successful. Much Aloha Sharon Morris

Such great service from this company. Shane has been our technician from the beginning and provides great service. Returns texts or calls promptly and is able to resolve any issues quickly. So glad we chose Kumu Kit when we installed our system

What the company says about itself

Taken from its own website. We have not checked any of it, and a sentence on a website is not evidence.

  • Established

“in the Hawaii renewable energy market since 2007, Hawaii Energy Connection, LLC is…”

Its website also mentions free estimate and licence number, but not in a sentence we can quote cleanly.

Elsewhere

  • It is also reviewed on the Better Business Bureau. Worth reading before you sign anything: those are a different crowd, and the complaints that reach the Better Business Bureau rarely reach Google.
  • It posts on X and Facebook. A page that stopped posting years ago tells you something a listing will not.

Who Google shows alongside them

Google’s own “people also viewed” set, in Google’s order. It is Google’s comparison, not ours.

The ones without a link have no page here, either because Google does not categorise them as solar businesses or because we could not match the name to a listing with confidence.

What we don't know

  • The date above is the newest review we hold, which is not necessarily the newest that exists — we hold a large share of Google's reviews, not all of them.
  • We do not verify licences, insurance or bonding. Nothing here has been checked against a state licensing board.
  • We cannot tell you what an installation costs, and we hold nothing about the equipment they fit.

Something wrong here? Tell us and a person will read it.
